im curious to hear your thoughts, im not really sure where the line is drawn (if any).

i have been sit out on because of i bought in with full stack, and because i was from denmark.

does bumhunters only play shortstack people, losing players, or players who are not regs, players who win below a certain amount of bb/100?

no difference, your entitled to play with, and seek out, weak players. there is no line where this becomes immoral short of bumhunting peopel with legitimate physcological issues, i use pokertable ratings (for full ring) with good results.

i suppose seeking out an alcholic gambling addcited moron isnt the nicest thing to do in the live setting, but to each his own imo. if you dont win his money someone else will, allthought I would probably draw the line there, ie. sticking it to someone with real mental/ emotional problems is not something I would do, otherwise stack away IMO.

Bumhunting is what you call it when someone else is table-selecting.

i dont understand what is wrong with "bum hunting" in the first place - playing people where you think your edge is largest especially if you are multil tabling HU should be your priority if your goal is to make money.

I don't think "bum hunting" is the problem. I think the problem comes when you have a lobby full of the same people with 5 and 6 tables open waiting for the 'bum."

It comes down to an ego/pride/wanting to be the best thing vs just wanting to make the most $/hr.

There isn't an entry in webster for this, so its kind of defined by each individual.

Technically I think bumhunting is seeking out bad players sometimes, but a bumhunter is someone who exclusively seeks out bad players. But personally I wouldn't call anyone a bumhunter unless they refuse action from players they have a decent edge on in favor of waiting for someone they have a massive edge on (the call with 7 high river type, god bless them).

Nothing wrong with it, you're supposed to play players you have an edge on. Good for the individual player, but probably bad for the collective "community" of good players, as someone will be willing to lose more money if they slowly bleed it, rather than losing a lot in a short period.

Man that last paragraph makes me realize what predators good poker players are lol.

When you sit at stakes where you will turn down action for fear of losing money. If I play .5/1 and see a fish sitting alone HU at a 2/4 table and go play him, that is game selecting. If I play .5/1 and sit at a 2/4 table and sit out against every person that sits until a fish comes along, that is bumhunting.

This never happen nowadays. How do you know if the player is bad or not?

Maybe you've played him before. Maybe he is a tournament player. Maybe you've seen people in the cash regs thread talk about how bad he is.

Lol, but do you really expect the fish to be alone waiting at an empty table without any other 400NL reg to play him?

This.

The funny thing is, that those pokerplayers never really play poker. They just log in, open like 7-8 tables (cuz the more tables, the more professional it looks obv). Then they sit out, going away from their computers, and in the evning/night the log out. And the next day they go through the same percedure all over again. No wonder they never advance....
