Using results to fine-tune pre-flop strategy

I've been playing a few years, and logged 170K hands of NLHE in PokerTracker. I've been winning, but not winning big, lately at the .05/.10 tables. Then I had the idea of checking to see which hands have been winning and which not.
As expected, I found a correlation between pre-flop hand strength and big-blinds won.
Then I thought, why not use this information to fine-tune which hands to play pre-flop, or to modify how to play the hands I do play.
I was wondering if anyone does this, or has tried it, or is against it, or thinks it's stupid, or any other thoughts you may have. Thanks. Scott

I think this is something that is commonly done, and if done correctly, is not stupid at all. But if you're looking to eke out a higher win-rate, I'm betting concentrating on your blind play is where you will find gold. I'm actively trying to do this myself.
PS. Not to discredit the stats posts too much since they absolutely do contain loads of valuable information, but in my opinion hundreds of those posts are from 2007/2008 when the games were wayyyyy different.
