Villain in hand is unknown. Should I just raise here and call a shove since he is short or should I go to crai on the turn?

I just raise in these spots against unknowns.

Villain will have a hard time folding most of his made range.
If he does fold he was likely to check behind turn or min bet it.

If we had a read that villain was bluffy, then i would probably just call flop.

Well I ended up 3 betting the flop. I guess now we have to go with it seeing as how he is semi short too, no? What concerned me here is that first of all, this is a limped pot. Second of all, how many villains really are going this crazy with top pair?

3-bet the flop with the intention of getting it in. Once he pushes I don't really love my hand, but we call!

I think call. But he didn't raised pre-flop, so he could have some trash hand, like 109s.. Or 78s, and he could think he has nuts. So what's the end of this hand?

I get it in here, not expecting to win every time. But it's a profitable call.

Would villain limp 77/88/JJ? If so, make a note and move on. Same if he limps SC (9T)

if his range is 78 and the hands that beat you, you have a fold, you're a 3.5:1 dog and you're only getting 2.2:1.. if you think he would limp in with an overpair and do this.. (someone did this with Aces to me the other day) then you have a very easy call.

If the straight wasn't there I would definitely call. I think you see the occasional over-pair/top pair gone mad, however after the limp pre-flop I would give the villain credit (87/occasional over-pair/occasional TP v T9/set/J8).
