Transitioning from MTTs to cash game Transitioning from MTTs to cash game

Hi,

Been playing mid-high stakes MTTs online for the past decade, but I´m going to be a father soon, so I have have been playing some cash game to see if it's an option for when I can't really grind for 8 hours, but could squeeze a couple of hours here and there.

I've only played 10k hands, nl 50 and nl100 on ggpoker, but so far its been decent. I'm winning 6bb/100 and make about another 4.5 in rakeback.

I'm currently playing between 5 and 6 tables of 6-max, mostly 5 tables as I'm just getting used to the different ranges, etc.

I'm using GTOW to see the ranges and analyse my plays, but other than that I'm sure I'm missing out on some meta/specifics of cash games, as I've never played them before.

What advice would you give me?

Make sure you're using some database software to review hands/sessions and evaluate your own stats/strategies as well as those of your population.

If you're newer to cash games, then a subscription to something like runitonce or upswing could be useful also.

I'd also recommend trying to network with other people and finding others that either have transitioned from mtt to cash or dabble in both to help give you some advice and bounce questions/hand histories off of.

Best of luck!

Thank you very much! Which database software would yo recomend?
Also, since rake is lower in nl100 than 50, does it make sense to play slightly wider ranges than the ones on GTOW for nl50?

I would personally recommend PT4 as it is fairly user friendly and can do a lot of useful things. Hand2note is more powerful, but much less user friendly and more difficult to use. Some other alternatives would be DriveHud2 and Hold'em Manager 3. Most of these softwares have trials, so you can decide which one you like the most.

It could, but the difference is likely negligible. RFI ranges won't change much to begin with and your choices for how wide to open or defend preflop should mostly be a function of the players' tendencies at your table rather than the rake.

Oh ok! I use Hm3 yes, I though you were talking about something like MDA.

Thanks for the input on the adjustments on ranges!
