There seems to be more and more 60BB stacks in play and I have trouble against them. A hand came up today in my session review that sparked some conversation and I wanted to get some more views. Villian is an unknown and bought in for 60BB. Sorry, no HH available but it's kind of a generic situation. Basically I'm interested in how others handle TP hands vs. these stacks on semi-dry boards.

All fold to villian who calls

Flop - A 7 3 (pot $11)

Villian donks $5, hero??

What's your plan for the turn/river?

I think our plan should be to get to a cheap showdown.

Call the flop bet, folding is too weak and raising means we have to stack off.

On a blank turn I would fold to a strong bet, call a small bet and bet(/fold) to a check(/raise). On a heart turn I would fold to a bet (unless small and we had J of hearts) and check back to a check.

River should play straight forward from there....

These were my thoughts too. My friend prefers a small raise on the flop. Anyone else?

Well I think if you're gonna raise on the flop that's cool but it should probably be a normal raise like 3x.

If you do raise you might scare of weaker hands and you put yourself in a position where you need to stack off with TPTK.

With 60BB stacks it's sought of in between stack off with TPGK and Don't stack off with TPGK so it's a little difficult like you mention.

I think your particular example is very opponent dependant. Will he pay you off with a weaker ace? If so then raise and get the stacks in.

If you think he maybe stronger than you at times then probably calling on flop and re-evaluating on turn would work.

I would rather be playing your hand with 60BB stacks rather than 100BB stacks!
