Well here goes, I've not staked anyone before as It's not really interested me nor have I ever believed its +EV, but I have a friend of a friend who I have had some good discussions with and I believe he has some talent. He doesn't have much of a bankroll as he has been in university for a while but finishes next week.

Basically I am interested in coaching him for a few hours in total (4 hours or something) and would be comfortable to stake $2-$4k ish (I don't know what amount would be most +EV).

I need to know what sort of things I need to be aware of and what percentage of winnings I should take. I make about $150-200 an hour playing online myself so staking him for $1k and taking $2k back when he hits $4k seems pointless to me.

I guess a contract is in order too, what things would I need to bring up when making a contract so that I don't get scammed?

Cliff notes-

How much should I stake this potential player?
What percentage should I take back?
What should the written contract entail?

Well I want to be able to make as much money out of this as if I were putting the hours into playing poker myself.

If I am going to coach him for 4 hours I want to be able to make at least $800, obviously there is risk he will busto the money I give him so I want to be able to make $2000-$3000 or something, I dunno

There is a staking and staking advice thread in both the coaching and marketplace forums.
