Villain is 16/12/3 over 1300 hands. I was tilting slightly (after going AI with my set and running into a lower set that rivered his 4th card for 4 of a kind) so I shoved the open-ended straight draw on the flop (also had 2 overcards).

I am including results to show the surprising play by this solid TAG over many cards.

My questions: (1) Is my flop shove -EV long-term? and (2) why would a solid TAG play in this manner, especially from the small blind?

yes your shove is fine, esp given that he is raising with a5. your opponent is clearly a moron and not a solid tag

I think his play makes sense somehow. He has position on you, and he saw your bad beat. So he may assume that you are tiliting, and calls you with his suited as. Your bet on flop could be just a CB from his point of view so he raises you with the nut flush draw. You reraise him, but now it is only 8$ for him to call and he already put 12 dollars or so in the pot. If you are tilting you could have air, you could have a worse flush draw. I understand his play. Maybe a better play from him would have been to raise you more on flop, so that the call if you put him all in would be more "natural".

Why a good TAG would buy in short makes me wonder.
