Stories about the rise of successful mid-stakes players Stories about the rise of successful mid-stakes players

02-10-2010 , 06:25 PM
If we search throughout tons of different threads, one might be able to come up with stories about how mid-stakes players became so successful and how they suddenly turned off the doom-switch and they have never looked back. there are many such players...probably hundreds such as

ericontilt (Stars)
http://www.**********************/st...rch/ericontilt

Jen415 (Stars)
http://www.**********************/st...search/jenn415

foxfox1 (Stars)
http://www.**********************/st...search/foxfox1

Shaitan87(Stars)
http://www.**********************/st...arch/shaitan87

and many many others like them, some of whom are probably a lot more successful.

This thread is not about who is the most successful...not trying to find the next nanonoko.

This thread is about to figure out why and how they are as successful as they are...and if you have any stories and background to share about them or about your own major successes in mid-stakes games. Discuss things like: how many of them probably received coaching? were they losing players before a coach and heir fortunes dramatically changed after coaching? (how much does coaching cost them, if you do happen to know), ow many tables do these players play, and is that the reason behind their success (plus being good of course), can you be a winning player 4-tabling, or must you be 8+tabling it.

If you know the background stories, did some of these players become successful due to: talking lots of hands with friends, watching tons of videos, or is it that they just have an innate sense and a remarkable gift to play this game? etc etc etc

7 is the minimum # of tables to be a winner.

the discussion is around how do some of them achieve this? it just doesn't happen by 'grinding' it... you can play a million hands in 6 months and be a losing player...most are...but the winners do something fundamentally different...and it's not just 'studying' or reading books or posting...or is it? those are the tings to discuss

Did you always wonder how classmates of yours received 4.0 GPA's in school as well? Same exact thing. These folks have a die hard passion, extreme drive and work ethic, and don't stop till they perfect their trait and reach the maximum amount of success. Many of the biggest winners would have went into the real world and ended up verry wealthy by the time they're 50 regardless. I would imagine a lot of the top player's parents are extremely motivated in their work as well and it's (finding success) sorta instilled in the genes of the top poker professionals.
