1st round with villain. Is he bluffing a lot here due to my bet sizing? Was I wrong to go for a little value after the weak turn and river checks? What can he reasonably have?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.05 BB (5 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

UTG ($2.77)
MP ($2.69)
Hero (Button) ($4.76)
SB ($8.63)
BB ($2.33)

Preflop: Hero is Button with Q, Q
1 fold, MP calls $0.05, Hero bets $0.20, 1 fold, BB calls $0.15, MP calls $0.15

Flop: ($0.62) 7, 7, 10 (3 players)
BB checks, MP checks, Hero bets $0.50, 1 fold, MP calls $0.50

Turn: ($1.62) 2 (2 players)
MP checks, Hero checks

River: ($1.62) 8 (2 players)
MP checks, Hero bets $0.80, MP raises to $1.99 (All-In), Hero???

I dont mind you advising to bet the turn, but if you are going to do that, put some effort into justifying the advantage over checking behind. I do realise that betting the turn is the default line here. I asked about the river.

Make some effort. This is why I dont stay at 2p2...

Bet turn to get value from Tx hands As hands lower pps, you should be looking to get atleast two streets of value here, and you prob have to check back all A K and spade rivers,

As played fold river

Thanks,

Yeah thats why I would normally bet the turn, I was trying something different. I want a small to medium sized pot at showdown and with this board I could already be beat and a turn checkraise would be horrible. I'm not committed, so why not check back, then re-evaluate on the river. A horrible river card plus a large bet from the villain will make it an easy fold. A good river card will allow me to get a little more value. I'll get looked up lighter on the river due to my turn check and the fact there are no more streets to come so I arent leveraging his stack.

So while I understand that its not good to do this as default, I thought I'd try a different line. That is allowed. Here, it got me in trouble, and maybe I was wrong to do it.

So my original questions stand. Has my river bet sizing got me in trouble here because it looks weak? Should I have bet at all? What is my opponents range?

You should def bet here, I think with your river check all pps and Ts call so more like ~1.10 would be better but I sincerely doubt 5nlers will be jamming over because of a subtle bet size read

Then again he's seriously shortstacked villain. Bet around 1$ on turn, villain left with about 1$ with pot close to 4$...

Just saying if you bet turn you might just as well try to get him make crying call on river with Tx getting almost 5 to 1 pot odds.

I agree with this. If I bet the turn, then I'm getting value on the river as well. Thinking about this again, I like my play more with 100bb stacks, but with his shorter stack, my turn check sucks.

I don't think he is bluffing much at all on this river. He doesn't have many chips left and he knows you are not folding to from your bet size. So it is kinda the opposite, he wants you to bet.

You aren't wrong to go for weak value, but why did you wait all the way to the river to do it? Gotta bet turn.

By the river he could reasonably have a straight, he could have been hiding his strength with a 7, he could have a two pair combo with a ten, he could have something like J's or 10's but I don't think there is enough info on villain to justify that as easily.

He's short enough that I'm potting the flop and shoving any turn except A or K of spades.
