Had this hand last night and was just wondering what the right play should be.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Villian has just sat down at the table so no stats on him

raise to $5 PF , bet close to pot on flop ,

as played , that minraise on the turn tilts me , I'd probably call & c/f river if he bets big.

I don't think you should put money in with intention on folding later on in this hand. You need to decide on the turn your course of action for the rest of the hand. Always think about the next street

If you call the min-raise the pot is going to be pretty big and the chances are you'll be put in a decision for all of your chips (well, all the villians chips)

So decide on the turn, how do you like your hand? Your only losing to a set and KK+, so based on reads and what other circumstances are happening make your mind up. If you feel that your are ahead, ship them in, if you believe you are now behind in the hand, there is no point donating any more chips to this pot, fold your hand.

so my advice is basically never call here...go all in or fold.

I don't quite agree.

I think a call, then c/c river is profitable too. Sure it lets them draw for cheap but what draws are there? 56 maybe but that doesn't raise turn unless he's a super tricky player.
Also the chance of a K or A falling and the player having one are very slim so I take that risk and let them bet at me on the river thinking they have the best hand with a pair of jacks.

Thanks for the help. I decided that I was happy to get my money in on the hand as I was putting him on AJ, KJ type hand, slight possibility of a bluff too. So I put him all in which was snap called as he had a set of jacks. Meh what can you do right? :s

I think playing at these stakes you have to be totally comfortable getting the money in on these flops (unless you have a read that a villain is a supernit) and just brushing it off if he's got a set. His cold calling 3-bet range mostly looks like AK or 99-QQ.

Do not call on this flop. There are so many cards you do not want to see

You need to bet more on the flop and turn.
