PokerStars - $0.10 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 5 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

UTG: 134.8 BB (VPIP: 28.57, PFR: 22.86, 3Bet Preflop: 8.33, Hands: 36)
CO: 100 BB (VPIP: 15.24, PFR: 13.33, 3Bet Preflop: 2.86, Hands: 108)
BTN: 104.1 BB (VPIP: 20.00, PFR: 20.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 6)
SB: 100 BB (VPIP: 36.36, PFR: 30.91, 3Bet Preflop: 21.74, Hands: 58)
Hero (BB): 100 BB

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has Q J

fold, CO raises to 3 BB, fold, fold, Hero calls 2 BB

Flop: (6.5 BB, 2 players) 5 9 7
Hero checks, CO bets 4 BB, Hero raises to 12 BB, CO calls 8 BB

Turn: (30.5 BB, 2 players) 9
Hero bets 14 BB, CO raises to 33 BB, fold

When he calls on the flop I'm not really sure how to proceed. Once he raises I know I'm beat, but I'm just curious overall as to what you think of my play here?

I feel a check/raise is best because I have two overs, a flush draw, and a backdoor straight draw, and he rarely has anything good here. When he calls, I'm not really sure whether or not to barrel turn.

It's hard for me to represent a nine because a check/raise on the flop doesn't make sense with one, maybe I should have given up turn.

What y'all think?

I think this board is just a little bit low for us and not really connected enough. He should know we don't have 68. Can't see him folding an overpair thinking we have a set turned boat. He will still probably fold out his overcards which make up a lot of his range but he will fold these out when we float the flop so I think we should call the flop and bet the turn. If he bets the turn then it will depend on his turn barreling frequency: whether he cbets and gives up or not.

Should I check/fold any turn that pairs the board?

Ye, unless he gives you odds.

Otherwise betting is just burning money when he's never folding these turns with pairs.

It's fine to barrel this turn so long as you plan to barrel a fair few rivers. You need a bluffing range here because you're going to be barrelling your sets and it's not going to take somebody competent long to realise when you're only barrelling cards which are 'good' to barrel (especially if you're value heavy on like a Jr turn after cbetting A72r or something).

Edit: just realised 10NL, x/f turn and apply what I just said when you move up.

You should post the hand before the turn action. Knowing your bet got raised makes people results orientated when you will get raised fairly seldom in this spot.
