So I was playing this guy 'PUREGUAVA' HU $1/2. I had $200 he had about $400. We had only been playing a little while before a pretty crazy hand transpired:

preflop: he raised to $6, I re-raised to $24 with 10d,10h. He called. Flop comes 4d,Jc,5c. We both check. At this point I figure he probably doesn't have a jack. Maybe he's slowplaying a monster set or something but not a Jack. Turn comes Qd. I bet the pot of $48 to test the waters. He calls. At this point I put him on either a Q or a set. It didn't seem like he'd have checked a J on the flop and it didn't seem like he'd call such a large bet with just a club draw on the turn. River comes 8c. I think for a bit and then decide to shove all-in for about another $140 which is about the size of the pot. I figured with a queen he couldn't call and with a set he still couldn't call so I was pretty sure I was in good shape until he called with 10c,7c for a crazy flush. I'm still shocked he called on the turn.
Looking back on it I dont think it was a completely misguided move on my part but I do think there were some flaws. Particularly the fact that I didn't play it like I had a flush draw from the get go. this didnt matter here cause he wasn't trying to decipher my move on the river. But in case he had had the queen or a set he might have seen through my bluff cause I didn't play it like I had a flush draw from the beginning. I still think it would have been a difficult call for him to make with a pair of queens but Idk. Any thoughts?

nh well played, unlucky not to have pushed them off their flush, they were obviously a bit fishy/calling station making a play like that.. you should have made a note "cant be bluffed off a flush"

you should have bet the flop+turn and c/f river if he called you all the way.

Loll I was wondering if it was worth reading all of this messy post so I read the comments before looking to see if people made good comments on the post and it looked ok so I went to read his post and I realised then that every single replies were sarcastic... damn 2+2 forums people

It seems like most of the replies missed the point of my post. Obviously I didn't put him on a draw or else I wouldn't have bet the river. I'm not trying to make anyone fold a flush, it's just i didn't put him on a draw. Would anyone else have put him on a draw after he called my large turn bet? I mean thats a pretty crazy call. I feel like the majority of the time a call like that means hes got a queen. So, if he's got a queen then the river bet is not a bad play. I can't just check the river cause if hes got that queen then he checks and takes it down. In terms of set possibilities I don't think he would have flat called the turn with a set. Definitely would have raised. Also, somebody suggested raising on the flop but I don't think that's the right move because he would have called and then he probably could have won it on the turn cause I would have had to worry about the Jack and the Queen. So, how would you guys play this situation? Hopefully the rest of replies are somewhat on topic.

It seems like OP missed the point of most of the replies.

You posted a bad beat story and nobody cares.

Maybe he called the turn with the fd planning to take the pot away on rivers he missed.

If your read is correct about him folding everything but a flush to a river bet then clearly the river bet is fine.
