Okay,
I bet 2/3 the pot on the flop to try to get value and defend against either a straight or flush draw. Since the opponent called pre-flop, I think it’s plausible for him to have something like Q10, AQ, A10, 10-10, or two clubs in someway or another.
On the turn, I was a little unsure the best thing to do. On one hand, it is possible that the opponent hit a straight w/ a hand like Q8 or x8, probably not QK since I already have two of the kings. Since this is a 0.05/0.10 game, I could easily see a loose pre-flop call w/ 8x. However, on the other hand, it is possible that the opponent is still drawing a straight (w/ something like Qx or Q7) or flush. Ultimately, I wasn’t sure if this was the right move, but I bet to defend against further possible draws, and also to get information. If the opponent raises, I probably know I’m beat; if the opponent only calls, I’ll see what happens on the river.
On the river, a club hits, possibly making a flush. Also, if the opponent had second pair with some type of draw on the turn, he just hit trips. Also, because of the call on the turn, I am concerned that the opponent is representing real strength (possibly already a made straight on the turn). The 1/2 pot bet on the river seems like the size of a true value bet, and ultimately I folded.
How would you guys have played this?
