Here's how it played out. I felt it was a great flop for me, but he called my flop bet, and i kinda had trouble getting a read on his hand. Any turn raise that's reasonable basically puts him all in, but the board make me wanna act strong since i feel i have a strong hand. What do you guys think.

just to nitpick, you can bet like $4-4.50 on flop but $5 isnt bad. I would double barrel all day and call a shove. Sets are coolers, and at 25nl im getting it in here everytime.

He's got less than a pot size bet left. Folding an overpair here really isn't an option. Just stick it in, you're better off if he calls your bet than if you let him decide if he wants to put it in on the turn or not.

The fact that he called your pot-sized bet on the flop makes a gut shot unlikely. That's good news for you, because it's also the draw which was most likely completed by this turn. He's more likely to have picked up a pair (if he called with an open-ended) a second pair (67, 78) or nothing at all.

I don't want to turn control over the pot over to our opponent by checking when a slightly scary card like this hits, because a smart IP floater will take advantage of this and bet to get me off my hand.

I think I'm betting 2/3 of the pot here and folding to a raise, which we're likely to see if he's holding a good hand.

Edit: Didn't notice that he'd be getting fantastic odds to call a shove. Bet/call.

Put him all in for a pot-sized bet and get calls from 44-55, 56s, 22, 66, 88, 8x-hands, 99-TT, 68s, 67s. Against a range that includes a lot of 8xs type hands, you are pretty far ahead.

QQ+ I would hope would have reraise preflop, so I wouldn't worry about them too much.

He might have a hand like AJ and floated with overcards, so they'll probably fold.

I think checking here ends up getting many of the worse hands that would have called if you had bet to just check behind, including overcards that might make your situation worse on the river if its an A, K, or Q and you end up more-or-less pot-committed OOP with only one psb left and an over on the river that might have hit his range for floating the cb and checking behind on the turn.

I kept the pressure on him when the turn hit. Bet about 10 bucks, he went all in and i had to call. He had flopped bottom set. Oh well, i'll get em next time
