I'm new here, so my apologies if this question belongs in the low limit thread. I'm looking for advice regarding which hands to play in the big blind. Game is 2-4 no limit and I'm facing a single player who has raised the bet to $12. In other words, I'm getting 2-1 pot odds. If there's a link to a blog or book that covers this subject I'll go there. Specifically I'd like to know best strategy versus tight and/or early position raiser, average and/or middle position raiser and loose and/or late position raiser.

Thanks
Joe

What hands to play in the BB vs. a raise is completely situation and villain dependant...but as a general rule, if you're just learning how to deal with this situation...you could set some rules and then go from there. For example, vs. a utg raise, you could say you're only gonna call in the bb w pairs 22-99, TJs, QJs, QKs etc, and AJo+....and re raise with your big hands, AKs, JJ-AA, and maybe even AQs. U should prob be folding all hands like J8s, K9s, until you get a feel for things.

If the btn is raising you alot obv. you will have to adjust accordingly, but it's good to mix in some 3bets and calls with the same types of hands to see how the game reacts. It's an experiment at first, but you will get a feel for it.
