Just had a hand with a unknown- no reads. Flop comes KK10, and he bets a dollar into a 60 cent pot. I was thinking of raising or calling and raising the turn but I just decided to fold. What do you guys tend to do when a villain overbets the pot like this?

Against your average guy, I'd set a bear trap - hardly bet at all, let him walk into it. But, if he's too smart for that, what I do is overbet the pot, make it look like I'm trying to buy it. Then he plays back at me, and I get paid off.

On a KK10 flop, I never see fish overbetting, or betting much at all, with a K or 1010. Most often it would be some 10 or JQ, maybe 99 or something like that. Fish don't like to scare you away when they have a huge hand like flopped trips or boats. They love setting a Helmuth-trap.

If it is a good player that is overbetting, I think its important to think about how the players views you. If he thinks you're a fish/calling station, he would overbet the pot with the Ks and 1010 that the fish wouldn't. Good players know fish don't think you would bet big with the trips or boat. So he would do it to get a fish to call light, or raise light.

I love overbetting flopped trips against fish when I'm pretty sure they have 2 pair. They never think you have it.

Against an unknown, I would play the hand very straightforward.

Out of curiosity what did you have?-) Kinda affects how to proceed...As a rule of thumb I would not go around bluffing with air here. Too expensive & not worth it readless.
