Or overbet shoving close to the nuts? Is this something that a lot of you guys do? I know i do it nearly every time on the river against fish and i think its a +ev play in the long run... obviously only at these stakes though

Example:

Poker Stars $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players
The Official 2+2 Hand Converter Powered By DeucesCracked.com

Hero (BB): $152.85
UTG: $27.25
MP: $8.00
CO: $50.80
BTN: $27.75
SB: $175.60

Pre Flop: Hero is BB with J T
3 folds, BTN raises to $1, 1 fold, Hero calls $0.50

Flop: ($2.25) A Q 3 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $0.50, Hero calls $0.50

Turn: ($3.25) 2 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $0.50, Hero calls $0.50

River: ($4.25) K (2 players)
Hero bets $26, BTN calls $25.75 all in

Final Pot: $55.75
Hero shows Jd Ts (a straight, Ten to Ace)
BTN mucks 3h Ad
Hero wins $53.00
(Rake: $2.75)

I feel its a good play mainly in really small pots when a value bet will only net a few dollars if called.. but if you jam it in you only need them to call a small percentage of the time for it to be profitable in the long run

I hate.

I think its way more +EV to pot the river because he'll call with a much bigger range than he calls a shove with.

In cases where your line makes no sense, which it really doesn't, donks will often call. This was actually in a pretty recent CR vid by a 2/4 grinder. I love it, it only has to work like 1/7 as much as a PSB to be the same EV.

This is kind of funny though because I just stated in another thread that I'd call a shove out of confusion. ME = donk

You know you need to make like 4 dollars on average on the river to break even on your call down with your gutshot. So anything less is certainly bad. This guy seems like a donk and probably calls with Ax or at least any 2 pair hand. So I like it.

I don't understand calling the flop only getting 5.5:1 on your inside straight draw?

I overbet-shove the river with very strong hands just about every chance I get with any fishy-ish type player (and against TAG players too, if I see they've have to make some big folds recently).

I've noticed after 1 or 2 times, you get looked up by people who stop thinking- hey, this is major strength, and start thinking, hey- there's a sick desperation about this push and I'm sick of having to fold to these idiot river overbets.

This depends how much of a donk villain is, if hes the kind of staton that wont fold a hand, this is good. If hes a semi donk that has some rough idea of handstrength I prefer a potsize lead here, mabye slight overbet but not much

Hero obviously believes he has implied odds > than 11 by making this call. It is the micros afterall and people do don't like to fold (and in op's case he doesnt like to fold to minbets.

classic overbet shove situations are when you have qt on a qqt22 board, things like that, where youre going to get paid off by a q and maybe a 2 (from a $25/$50 player). cant remember the other situations he said, but thats the one that sticks out. i know ive tried this a couple times and never gotten paid off, but maybe thats just me

i mean 5.5:1 is enough to call for a GS, and furthermore it was a minbet...
