Didn't have a chance to post anything on PokerKing over the weekend as I was busy.

Basically wanted to say that the situation he put us all in is an unavoidable thing in this thread if a reg (or former reg) goes rogue like that. There is literally nothing anybody could have done to stop it. I'd hope that regs would not ever do that sort of stuff, but the unfortunate reality is that they do.

The common theme in situations like that (backrhodes, PK, thess to an extent) is the person gets stuck big during the week and loads up massive at the end to try and get unstuck. They inevitably lose and can't pay. This is the root of the entire problem.

One major issue in this thread (and the HSNL thread at one point) is not having an idea how up or down someone is in the week when you bet with them. Some people like to press hard on the weekend when they are up and layback low when they are down. Some people do the opposite. People's betsizes change depending on how they are doing and 99% of the time it is not an issue.

With that said, I think we all would be hesitant to bet with someone who was both down a bunch on the week for our standards and also raised their betsizes significantly. We all know what betsizes make us comfortable. For me, you won't see me bet more than $100-$200 on any game at this point. I've only even bet $200 a few times and it is spots where it's either a game I really like/care about (BULLDAWGS) or a spot where it's the only game on that night and I want to sweat it with a little more on the line. If I came in and raised my betsizes I'd expect someone to ask me what's up and would not have a problem with it. I'd imagine in an instance like that it'd be because I was up a ton going into the weekend and wanted to try and win all the money.

We all recognize after the fact how these situations got out of hand, but during the week no one really notices. It's hard enough for me to keep up with my own action let alone everyone elses and I only bet a handful of games a week. Maybe every now and then we do a spot check on how you are doing during the week so everyone has an idea what they are dealing with. At the very least, we need to start making it way less taboo to bring up these issues as they are happening. Everyone should be okay with being asked how the week is going and should be able to reply with an honest answer to the best of your knowledge at the time.

Just my 2 cents. I've enjoyed getting some action in this thread through the college football season and will most definitely scale back after the bowls as I get killed in NBA, but I'd like to be able to return for MLB and then again for CFB next year. It's a good community 99% of the time, but if steps aren't proactively taken to help mitigate the damage that 1% causes it might become not worth the hassle for a recreational guy like myself (and I know others who would give lots of action in this thread feel the same way).
