Hai guys, need some help.

I'm getting an error message saying "poker.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" every time when starting up Pacific Poker.

It all started a couple of days ago when I tried to start Pacific as usually through PPHG 2.11, which displayed a message of "please let the update finish" (I think 2.11 is the newest version) or something and then I couldn't open Pacific anymore. PPHG doesn't respond after launching Pacific software, which crashes immediately. Don't know if all of this has anything to do with the problem but that's when it started.

I've uninstalled my old version of PP, downloaded a new one and reinstalled multiple times but "poker.exe" crashes immediately after installing so the PP downloading screen won't appear either so it doesn't matter at all if I use HG to launch PP or use PP's own shortcut. Directly opening poker.exe displays a message saying "please use PP.exe" and then poker.exe crashes.

The person in live chat (lol) advised me to contact my NSP to open some ports but I've played on Pacific for a long time now and nothing should have changed and tbh I think the ports are controlled by our router which no one has touched.

I've tried to clean registry etc but really have no idea how to fix the problem.

Need some help, ty.

Probably won't happen because I can't open the software at all.

If u use Microsoft Vista dont forget to run Pacific as administrator. I was not able to open the software at all just like u but then changing the compability helped.

Forgot to add that I use Windows XP.

I was advised to change my regional settings which have always been the same. I did and it didn't do anything good. Also tried to install PP on a different hard drive but it just crashes immediately after installing as usually.

Meh

Did u try this on a secondary hard drive? It sounds like you did, If so format your main hard drive, re-install windows and install PP as the first thing, it will work! If it doesn't take your PC to another location with a different internet connection/provider, I have had trouble installing PP from an office I work from, so this could be causing you trouble.

This may sound like a lot of work, but it WILL fix you problem, I would put a lot of money on it

P.S if you lived near me in Australia, I'm happy to fix it for free, but somehow I doubt you live anywhere near me

Yes I did. Re-installing Windows would fix the problem but that's not really an option. I've played on Pacific for a long time and re-installed the software a couple of times so I doubt that my Internet connection has anything to do with the software crashing on start up but you never know..

Yeah I pretty much live on the other side of the world. Would like to be there though.

Any chance you are using PokerOffice? When I use to use PO, I'd have to open up pacific before opening PO, or else it would crash every single time.

Nope.

Actually I found an older version of PP (3.509) that works but I'd prefer the newer one for a couple of reasons but especially because I'm used to it.

It's interesting that 3.509 and another older version that works (almost the same) don't show up that small loading screen when launching at all like the newer versions. Does this mean anything?

Does anyone have a link to a version of PP from last summer or so? Thanks.

Figure out a way to stop it from automatically updating to the newest version and you'll be my friend for life.

Has Mrk1960 ever lost a hand using his 'hit and run midstakes HU for weird amounts pushing all hands preflop' strategy?

It's the damnedest thing and yet I can't make myself stop playing his super-using ass.

Hey guys, couple of updates for you.

In the next couple of days all the cash game tables will move to a 30 seconds decision time and 15 seconds decision time for the fast tables.
Also, a couple of "deep" tables will have a 50bb minimum and a 200bb maximum.

In the very near future we will have a partial solution to the seat reservation problem.

Regarding the re-sizing problems some of you had in the new client, it is being fixed at the moment (thanks peke for the helpful information in PMs). In the meantime, whoever can set their monitor to a 1280X1024 resolution should be able to tile without any problems, so that should serve is a solution for now.

Some of the more exciting updates are coming in the next couple of months, but I'll have more precise information on dates when we get closer to the release.

Again, feel free to post here or PM me about any issue. I can't promise I'll be able to sovle it all, but I do promise everything is forwarded to the relevant people in the company.

That's the one. Thank you.

Installed smoothly, little downloading screen appeared when PP started, lobby was unusually slow and the tables were all black/orange. Was looking good before I closed PP and tried to open it with HG. Pacific tried to update automatically, poker.exe and HG crashed. Now poker.exe just crashes right away as usually.

Maybe I really need to look into those ports as the chat person said? A blocked port could prevent Pacific from updating and ultimately crash the whole software? Might be a long shot though..

I have had trouble when it is trying to update itself at a few different internet connections. It installs o.k, but then you open it and it tries to update but nothing happens.

Easiest way to fix would be to take you computer to a friends house and try it on their internet connection. Or get into you modem and unblock the ports that Pacific requires.
