OK peoples. This is my last post before I hit 1000 posts. You think I should do something with it or just use it to tell someone not to fold 77 on J72 2 tone flop?
10-12-2009 , 01:44 PM

IMO do a strat post about an 'aha' moment you've had

like 'aha i should not fold 77 on a J72tt flop'
10-12-2009 , 01:52 PM
Are these milestone posts actually a big deal for some people?

would like some thoughts on this hand I played at the local cardroom
Villain is a semi-decent reg that plays 100nl online
So Brian J understands , FL law limits buy ins for cash games in FL. You must start with $100, usually within a few hours everyone has a normal stack, but if you fall below $500 you cannot buy up. Ghey, yes, I know.

$2/$5 NLHE
5 handed
Hero is utg w/ $350
Villain is BB w/ $300

Hero raises to $20 w/ XX, BB calls

pot: $42
Flop: Q86
BB checks, Hero bets $27, Villain calls $27

pot: $96
Turn: 2
BB checks, Hero checks

pot: $96
River: 6
BB bets $100, Hero?

Mental note on villain: Somewhat tight(which in the context of live poker, means he doesn't limp/call with a hand like Q6s or CC raises with 75o). Tends to call down somewhat light (if have have QQ and he has AT on Txx, I am getting 3 streets of value 99% of the time).
Other notes: Villain is likely aware that I would probably not check back with a Q on the turn.

What is your assessment of villains range here?

Short stacking your locals game?

anyone can sit in my table, i dont really care.

I hate regs that buy tables and never sit in them. Whenever I play, I'll always sit in and play any lineup at my table. Unless of course I'm already 6-9 tabling which can make playing HU quite difficult, then'll ill wait for it to fill first

Helps to know what suits you hold. KQ/QJ, FD's, 6X and air. Looks a lot like a 6 or Q hoping you put him on a missed flush draw. It's a bluffy looking bet and from a thinking player seems a bit too obvious (but of course with live games the obvious is what it is often). You have JJ/TT?
10-12-2009 , 02:28 PM
skraper -

his range is probably a lot of busted draws and 6x hands, occasionally 'slowplayed' big pair/AQ

I left out one mental note in the first post, because if I had put it you guys would say, "well if thats your read, he is obv bluffing, so call". He tends to vbet about 1/2pot. If he had KQ+ he would bet $45ish nearly every time. So when he pots the river, it really looks like he is FOS or he is trying to make up for missed turn value on the river with FH or 6x. And given his tendency to make callable bets on the river, I thought he was FOS.

Results:
Hero calls $100
Hero shows AT for A high
Villain shows 78 for a pair of eights

So either I gave him way too much credit for understanding that an 8 is so obviously good in this spot and can never(theoretically) get called by worse, that he should c/c the river(and it's not even close imo). Or I got sick leveled into calling with A high.
