First one isn't that bad imo. Given that the second hand shows villain to be a fish he obv has no idea whats going on in the first one, but if he was a thinking player would you recommend he shove the riv?

What? Instafistpump shove lol?

I mean, I was contemplating between check-raising river and leading out, but he was superpassive (<0.6 total aggression over about 75 hands) so I guess he's not gonna bet his missed draws so often, so gotta try to squeeze some value mainly from 9x or TT+ (3-bet pre so far 0% and later the only 3-bet I saw from him was with AA)

well I agree this villain should have shoved because you would have snapped but I was thinking about a decent player in his stead. I didn't think about how many Js are in your range the first time I looked at it, and in retrospect I am shoving there too but ill probably leave my hands on the mouse cause I don't expect to get insta-snapped off by an overpair.

Are you serious? :O

It's the complete opposite. I might've not even called villain here cause I have seen him check behind rivered top pair (Q8) on 245-9-Q board when it went check-check all three streets. I have not seen ANY aggression from him, so I def. timebank and ultimately probably fold AA here.

Against a decent player check-raise is here in order.

hmm, well I was taking your lead as a given, but if your checking then the discussion of a regulars raise is irrelevant. This does suggest though that you think c/r>b/c (I agree) which means you give a lot of strength to the regular's raising range in this spot, which is all I was proposing. You are saying if its a reg you aren't betting out, and if its this fish you are folding...so saying villain should instafistpumpshove is weird amirite?

In the actual hand I can't really say anything meaningful since I don't know about this fish. Most fish I will just look up all the time because they don't know what they are doing so I incorrectly assumed you would be doing that vs him. Its characteristic of hands vs fish that others who weren't at the table can't usually give accurate feedback. Guess I didn't know what breed you were dealing with

Really there's only 2 places, The Excelsior at the Holiday Inn, or the Raddison.

The Excelsior, although only 2 games running (maybe even just 1 at this time) has very VERY soft field. Usual game running is 2/2 (with 5 to play, so SB and BB is 2/2)

I've been there twice already and I love it not just cuz of the poker but because of everything else you can do there.

Also what hotel are you staying at?

yeah but you're older than me, and also did you OPEN your acct and make your INITIAL deposit as a 10k poker check? Am I just being paranoid here?
10-30-2009 , 11:07 PM
bank wire?
10-30-2009 , 11:10 PM
havent opened the BoA acct yet so I can't bankwire to it. I need an initial deposit, which I guess I can just write a check from my other bank acct. The reason I want a new one is the atm's on campus are BoA and I also heard BoA is great for poker players. I think the solution is just opening the acct by writing a check from one of my other bank accounts and then doing bankwires or depositing checks later.

Thanks

2shae, there's a really accommodating bank of america near campus on forsyth ave just west of hanley. i started an account there when i was in stl and they were completely fine w/ poker (i use it to this day and have never had a problem).

pretty sure i only had to deposit $25 or something to launch the account.

thanks tannen, will try with that one
