hehe :P no wonder with hordes of Nazis emigrating to Argentina after WWII But I guess most of the population of those two countries will not be neutral.

Also, I'll have you know I was very careful not to editorialize in the thread title. All you defensive euros are reading it as "****Official July (No More Soccer ) Chat Thread****" when it could just as easily be read as ****Official July (No More Soccer ) Chat Thread****"
well, it could - if the WC had already ended, and if the thread wasn't opened with "**** the world cup"

Frontzeck is born in BMG. And wow nice reminding me at helveg.

But point taken.
Its because we are a small town and dont have all the cheddar you guise have, therefore we need to take our own youngplayers and some old****s or severly injured players and hope they get well.

I read sth about the 1966 curse, your last 3 opponents were Germany, Portugal and Argentina. And in every game was sth not 100% fair. We all know about the final, but there was stuff in the other two games as well. And Maradona apparently said in an interview after his famous goal vs England sth along the lines: "Its always fun to steal from thieves".

Coming back to the curse, if England qualified for a WC after 1966 you mostly were kicked out by either Arg, Ger or Por. I guess only once brasil beat you guise.

Hmm interesting. So I guess Argentina got us back with Maradona's Hand of God. Portugal had their revenge when Ronaldo did his part in getting Rooney sent off (remember that wink?). Now we have had a perfectly good goal disallowed vs Germany. Maybe the curse is finally over and we are now destined for glory at Brazil 2014?

Hai new chat-thread!

PR247: England confirmed not destined for glory in 2014.
07-01-2010 , 09:22 AM
But the partition of the earth into a western and an eastern hemisphere is totally arbitrary, as opposed to the partition into northern and southern hemisphere!

Back in the chat thread because I need a break from work and I'm a forum degen :P

Thanks to everyone who posted interesting stuff about my play. Sammy's comments about my regression as a player and the subsequent discussion of 2p2 standard groupthink were very thought-provoking.

Fwiw I've been digging through my HHs/stats and thinking things over, and I think my main leaks appear to be:

1. I'm just a bad player at 100BB. I looked at the stats and was astonished--even at the 250BB tables I almost exclusively have played from the moment Stars created them, all my big losses are to guys with 100BB stacks. And it's not just because they're abusing their natural advantage, either; it's because...

2. Esp. with regs I have history with, I outlevel myself and overplay my hands. All. The. Time. It's the most maddening thing because I KNOW it's a massive farging leak and yet I keep doing it.

3. I cbet my good hands too much (because I cbet my bad hands constantly), because I want to balance. I'm never thinking about continuance ranges and targetting a Villain value range with my lines. This is one area where 2p2think of 'betbetbetbetbetbetbet' is wrong; you need to plan your hand, target a value range, and if you can only get one or two streets of value from it (as is often the case) sometimes it's best to check flop, or check turn.

In a lot of spots, I'm starting to realize, you lose value by betting.

4. Too loose in middle position and overplaying hands when OOP. My loss rates in MP1 and MP2 are hideous and I'm playing 15/12 in those positions. that's toooo loose, especially when I'm insanely loose in CO/BTN and that means the guys whose blinds are constantly attacking are sitting behind me when I play from MP. Guess what--after a while they are all too happy to call behind me, and I suck at playing OOP.

5. I just don't really grasp 3betting. I study and study the theory behind it, but I'm such a low volume player and I think it just takes a lot of experience. But if I ever play seriously again I really need to cut down on the whole "assuming guys are 3betting light when I only have like 4 hands of history with them" thing.

As a reminder just for context--I play only one or (occasionally) two tables at a time, and lately it's exclusively been 250BB deep tables infested with (mostly bad) regs. These play a lot differently from the standard 40-100BB tables... but anyway, those are my easiest identified leaks, I think. Feedback is appreciated.

Found out he wasn't a 600nl baller. He plays 1knl as his main game. WTF. The previous guy I met was his room mate who plays 5knl. *MIND ESPRODE*. Thing is, the 5knl guy wasn't even the highest stakes player.

When the 7 of them (all german players) were in Australia, one of them played David Benyamine HU *DOUBLE MIND ESPRODE*

Anyway funny conversation here.

Chilli: So how do you beat all the higher stakes players?
German beast: Easy, just adjust to other players and play properly
Chilli: You mean balance your range and play solid hands etc.?
German beast: Balancing you range is F***ing stupid. You don't need to balance your range until you play at least 5knl.
Chilli: You joking right?
German beast: Dead serious
Chilli: Wtf really?
German beast: LDO. When is the last time you took a note on how much he raises AA compared to 57s? At 1knl you can raise 4x with AA and 2.5x 57s, no one gives a s***.

Chilli: How many tables do you play?
German beast: 6
Chilli: Stats?
German beast: 24/20

Anyway a couple of pics from today.

Us walking down Orchard Road. JeanieJ would love this prolly. It's full of evil shops like Prada, LV, Zara etc. It's evil and my girlfriend spends a ton of time here. I don't follow her when she does.

My girlfriend convinced him to try a prawn rice burger. The buns are made of rice. I hate rice burgers and prawns are gross but he liked it.

My beautiful girlfriend.

Some of you may know that I perform magic (see the COTW that I did). This is where I perform monthly, at the top of the building.

Nice view from up here at the bar of my performance spot. The Marina Bay sands is located on the right. It is said that the bridge connecting the buildings is actually a swimming pool with a glass bottom, meaning that you can see all the way down. Singapore Flyer on the left.

Suntec City, a big exhibition centre, and more buildings from high up.

This is the bar. I'll be here on New Year's Eve again this year. I normally perform at the restaurant called the Equinox.

The rest of Singapore.

His drink, Pearl Harbour. Some random drink with alcohol.

My drink, Lime Virgin Margarita. Cos I'm a pimp.

Going to the zoo tomorrow followed by some poker and wii at my place. More pics to come!

So I am planning my drive to Vegas. I am pretty stoked.

Mapquest says it is 2500 miles direct drive.

BUT:

If I go from home to Chicago to Jackson, WY to LV, it adds only 400 miles to the trip. This is cool, because I have a friend in Chicago who I haven't seen in several years. Also, the Jackson to Las Vegas leg would allow me to easily detour to Yellowstone Nat'l Park and Arches Nat'l Park for some photography.

So Vegas itinerary is shaping up as:

2 days to Chicago
3 days in Chicago
2 days to Jackson, WY
2 days in/around Yellowstone
2 days to LV with a drive through Arches
???? Days in Vegas. Somewhere between 2 weeks and a month.
2 days max at the Grand Canyon
5 day grinding the drive from GC home.

I wanted to work in a detour down to Carlsbad caverns, but it is a big detour that adds about 550 miles to the return trip, so, I dunno.

The only beat is that mapquest says the shortest route from Chicago to Jackson is west on I-80 through Nebraska, and I'd rather drive through South Dakota.

Adding 4 new states to my "been-to list," spending about 11 days driving, and (with luck) paying for all of it with a few weeks of grinding 2/5 in Vegas in the middle.

#2 is my biggest leak. Overplay hands when I tell myself "he can't have a set when he c/r my turn bet, he must have a draw...oops he did have a set".

#3 I ****ed up too after all the "bet, bet, shove" talking in every thread. Have started to think more the last months what villain could have and what he will continue with and vice versa. Instead of not getting a single street of value with TP on a dry board I sometimes check the flop and may get a call on the turn from his 2nd or 3rd pair after I have checked.
