My life is so funny.

Due to various circumstances (the most predominant of which being that Vegas sucks and my friend owes me $26,000) I have no money, except for online.

I played online today and won a $3700 pot. After I quit my session I decided I wanted sushi. Unfortunately I have no cash or money in my checking account.

I just spent 32 minutes searching my apartment and car for spare change so i could go buy some sushi. I managed to scrape up $7.81 and a $10 in Bellagio and Turning Stone chips.

So my Mom just had me meet with our family CPA (going back to school soon) so I could get a feel for tax stuff, what I can expect come April, etc etc. She claimed this guy knew poker cause his brother plays for a living and he's a very good CPA. Regardless of the fact that I really didn't like this guy at all, it was extremely clear that he had never dealt with someone who plays online before. He asked me if I wanted to go play in the WSOP when I'm 21, he touched on the fact that I'll eventually go play "big games" in Vegas, was astounded that I could play 6 tables at once, and was under the impression that one has to be 21 to play online. He also was under the impression that you had to be 21 to vote, but that's another story.

We guessed I'd make ~100k this year, and that I'd end up paying roughly 25% in taxes (I'm from PA, so it was 22 federal and 3 state). We decided that since I don't have that much to deduct and don't need to be paying social security ****, I should definetely be filing these winnings as a hobby and not as a profession, business, etc. Should I go out and get someone on my own who has done this before? Despite the fact that this guy didn't know **** about online poker, does it matter if I'm not trying to deduct any expenses?

PM me if necessary, thanks.

MSNL, I am looking for a stake. I turned 18 a bit ago and decided to cash out mostly all my roll but 20k or so. I game select pretty hardcore and had run well for the last few months so I thought it would be enough. I also thought i would be able to move down from my 25/50cap games at 5/10 6m. BUT, I couldn't and now im busto. This whole graph is about 3 months of play or so and 38k of it is 5/10 6m (6.05bb/100, 46k+ moniez) while the rest is some 3/6 and 2/4, but mostly 25/50cap. There is some 10/20 6max and ful ring too where i ran pretty good and have about 20k moniez. If you are interested in winning money shoot me a PM. I have some references too and we can talk over terms. YAY.

what exactly comprises of good table selection? In HU, it's obv not playing the regulars, but I think it's stupid, but w/e, ok I'll agree.

In 6 max, how exactly can you practice good table selection? Like basically every singe table has atleast like 4 regulars on it, so is good table selection essentially find a table wiith 1 fish on it, and basically try to avoid playing on a table full or regulars?

practice good seat selection, like sitting in position on LAG regs rather than OOP.

I remember talking with someone late last year about jmc @ 10/20, at a time when he had been doing very well. my friend thought he was very good, I disagreed. Then I had to clarify- I would rather have position on him than a fish(in terms of ev), BUT he was probably the toughest reg to play out of position. make sure you always have position on regs like this, who hate giving up on pots.

Its people like this you need to be aware of, and then think carefully where you sit at the table. say you wait list a bunch of tables and one pops up where the games is meh, but the seat is the worst at the table, just dont sit, but click to get on the wait list again, so you have a chance to get a much better seat.
