i'm pretty sure its because the pot odds to call the 3b are good enough when compared to some trivial equity comparisons to an assumed 4b range. i.e.:

Text results appended to pokerstove.txt

349,310,016 games 0.322 secs 1,084,813,714 games/sec

Board:
Dead:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 29.703% 28.40% 01.30% 99205404 4549464.00 { A9s }
Hand 1: 70.297% 68.99% 01.30% 241005684 4549464.00 { TT+, AQs+, AQo+ }

so we're a little worse than 2:1 dog and most people aren't making pot-sized 4-bets. a reg fish thinks "i'm getting 4:1 or maybe 5:1 to flat this, i know i'm not worse than 20% here and he's aggro, I'll call and see what happens"
04-07-2011 , 01:21 AM
I haven't played the flatting-4bets-100-deep-game in a while but from what I remember, we don't have enough stack behind to call even if we get those odds. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I just want to know whether he really thinks its because "I'm getting good pot odds" or "It's pretty" or "I'm feeling lucky/he's been 4betting me a lot and I decided to take a stand" or maybe even some other reason we don't know about.
04-07-2011 , 01:28 AM
he is 200 deep

so its the equivalent of calling $8.75 pre 100 deep at 50nl. not good but i've seen worse. i would seriously be tilting if i 3b that hand 200 deep and got 4bet. I love playing blind v blind in position.

didn't see stack depth

never mind then
04-07-2011 , 01:34 AM
you can't just look at preflop equities. you have to consider a tree for all the possible flops & how you're going to play them & how villian plays his range on the diff flops.

basically the guy is just praying to hit an A and suck out on TT-KK, but that doesnt happen enough to compensate for all the times he whiffs or loses to AK on A72

edit: guy is 200bb deep? meh. he basically got a miracle flop & its still the kind of spot that makes me nauseous.
