Your EV is just your bb/100 multiplied by the number of hands / 100.

I mean my EV in $ since I'm going to be moving up and down stakes.

do what cang said, then multiply by $/bb (LDO).

I think PT4 will tell you your WR in $/100 hands if you want ...

That's not what I'm asking, the problem I'm having is I can't figure out how many hands I'll play at each stake.

Why would you be anticipating moving down stakes?

can i ask what stats you guys are using/recommend in a FR hud? i'm starting over, since bf, at the micros again and i'm curious. mine currently looks like...

name / hands
vpip / pfr / 3bet / fold to 3b
flop cbet / fold to flop cbet* / 4bet** / fold to 4b**
steal / fold to steal / defend steal / resteal (3bet vs steal)

*fold to flop cbet hasn't helped me that much, even on the guys that i have my highest samples (500-600 hands) on. it will usually read '100' or '0' for most players.

**4bet and fold to 4bet are getting removed since i almost never use them. i was thinking of replacing them with post flop aggression% and wtsd% (when saw flop).

fwiw i'd like to keep my hud to 4 lines (including the name/hands line) and no more than 4 stats per line. i also use hm2. thanks in advance for any serious responses.

Sorry, I didn't understand you correctly before. Your question is probably difficult to answer. What would you do with that information? Anyway you'll play as many hands as your comfortable with, and just play wherever variance takes you.

Basically what you have to do is for each stake threshold compute the probability that you have to move down again and conclude how many shots you expect to take. This tells you how many hands you have to play to move up.

I have

Hands/Vpip/pfr/AF
Steal/3b/FT3b
Cbet/FTcbet/WTSD

And then I have a load of popups configured for each one that give me more detailed info.

I would use it to find out what BRM I should use to maximize my earnings

It doesn't seem like your method solves the problem of moving up and down since my EV will change as my bankroll changes.

If we assume that stakes are continuous then stake and bb/100 can be a linear function of the bankroll, would that make it easier?

I would add in Turn Cbet and Aggression Factor.

I have a relatively small hud and until recently I relied on pop ups for the turn cbet stat but I've found it to be much better having it on the hud.

I'm drunk and ^&$% maths but... I don't understand a word of that?

Getting better is what counts, making some $ whilst progressing is critical. If making more $ is essential then progress slower.

The rest of the complex stuff just does my head in.

I'm going to shot take 400 tonight if I sober up a little. Hopefully I run like I do at 200

You should have said that from the start There is a known formula for the ideal bankroll assuming you really know your winrate and standard deviation. It's the Kelly bankroll, related to the Kelly criterion. IIRC you just need to divide your variance (square of the stddev) by your winrate. Variance is measured in bb^2/hand, and winrate in bb/hand, so the quotient is given in bb.

So, say your winrate is 6bb/100, and your stddev is 70. Then your variance is 4900, so your ideal bankroll would be 4900/6=816bb or 8 BI. However we don't really know our real winrate and stddev, and in this case it is really important to err on the side of caution. So people use something like "2xKelly" or "3xKelly", leading to 16 or 24 BI in this case.

Using Kelly as is leads to you moving up and down a lot, and if that has a negative impact on your game you should also be more careful.
