Just because you're fine with joking around about serious matters, doesn't mean that it's fine to assume that others will be fine with it.

It's also preposterous to think that should you decide to joke about something like that, that others won't let you know that they don't appreciate your comments.

I think what most people don't realize is how insensitive they are being. Some people are okay with joking off serious things. Other people are not. I think it's a bit cold to make jokes at things that are likely to upset a number of people.

Yes it's a free country/world/internet, Yes you can say whatever you want for the most part.

What bothers me is the fact that you don't take the time to think about how your words will damage and hurt the people around you. If you did would you say these mean hurtful painful things? Maybe you would, but I prefer to more careful about things and cause as little pain to the people around me as possible.

its an internet forum, of course people are going to say stupid stuff. i dont think theres a single thing someone i dont know could "say" on the internet that would offend me/get me legitimately mad. obv others disagree.

When it comes down to it we're all still humans... even if we are on the net. Perhaps people acting differently than they would in R/L makes a difference. Maybe the forums are just a place for people to say whatever they want even if it's painful for others? I don't know, but I'd like to think deep down there are good people out there who actually consider the feelings of other people even if they don't know them personally.
