I think people make assumptions about certain parts of his game that are waay off base. He takes advantage of this and profits. I'm not going to elaborate with specifics, and I'm not claiming to have his game completely figured out but I certainly understand how/why he makes money.

so im moving to the los angeles area next month, gonna give it a try. want to be close to the commerce so i can hit it up 2-4 times wk and close enough to party in LA every now and then but dont necessarily want/need to live in LA proper.

any recommendations on awesome areas to live?
01-25-2010 , 07:50 PM
don't live anywhere close to commerce. I guess pasadena would be ok.
01-25-2010 , 07:51 PM
as long as you don't drive during rush hour (all day long) you can live pretty much anywhere and get to the commerce in less than an hr.

the guy has an excellent "feel" for the game. i have a feeling a lot of you don't know what this is, but oh well. just stick to your robotic/autopiloting tendencies

i stayed with my law school roommate for a week last may and drove to the commerce while he was at work litigating and whatnot

he lives downtown, near union station, and the drive was pretty quick with only a bit of traffic on the juncture between (i think) the 10 and the 101?

Looking to trade my 7k on stars for your 7k on FTP. Will pay small vig.
01-25-2010 , 08:57 PM
Just to make sure I get this right.

If I buy the ipod dock from ftp store for 65k points, and it's $.005 mgr hit/point it's a $325 mgr hit overall and then 27% of that is what I'm going to miss out on in rake back.

like $90 or whatever.

Confirm/deny?

No longer in need of transfer.

For someone playing predominantly tournaments do you think RB would be worth getting?
01-25-2010 , 09:30 PM
Couldnt hurt. If you ever want to play cash games you will wish you had.

yeah this is kind of what i'm worried about. since i do plan on playing live a fair amount i dont want to have to start spending my life in traffic and hating my existence.

i stayed with a friend who lives in west hollywood last year for a few weeks and i liked the location and everything but it definitely seemed like the gay part of town, which, fine whatever each to their own and all, but since im into the ladies it didn't feel like a very good fit. dunno, maybe i just got a different impression of the area than it actually is

does anyone live in or near huntington/newport beach area?

haha yeah this is sorta true, but not too much different than what else I have seen of LA except the valley. plenty of amazing looking girls here as well.

The reason I would hesitate is because when I last played on FTP I would have had to create a new account to get RB. I'm not sure going through that hassle is worth an extra 200$ in RB from MTTs. If I was planning on playing cash there it's a no brainer I agree.

i dont live in LA but have spent over 2 months out there off and on. if you dont live too far out and u can avoid the highway some, the drive shouldnt be too bad. just avoid driving at the most obv worst times and im sure ppl that live out there can tell u which highways are the worst of the worst.

In other words you already have an existing FTP account? I don't think you can get rakeback, then, since if FTP detects that you have two accounts they will merge it with the older of the two.

go to the rakeback forum here. some people can get retagged if they email ftp and some get a 10k bonus that clears at roughly 27% and some are SOL

Is anybody else besides me suddenly getting spam in a poker-only email account? I have an email that I have never used for anything other than my FTP and Stars accounts, and I am suddenly getting 5-6 poker-related spam mails a week.
