imo you should have it unchecked by default and only put it on mid-hand if it makes it advantageous to the situation.

I'd guess if you think you are a strong favourite you don't want it on, and if its more of a coinflip situation you do want it on ?

disclaimer : the few times I've played stakes with run it twice, I've forgotten to even consider if its worthwhile and only remembered after the hand. There is no solid maths behind my assumptions.

it really is more of a mental thing than anything

In a vacuum it's -EV every time because of the extra $.5 rake each time it's used. However, if losing 3 60/40s in a row puts you on monkey-tilt causing you to lose 2 more stacks before punching a wall and quitting then $1.50 <<<<<<<<< 2 stacks

But I personally probably wouldn't play with it on till at least 400nl when $.5 is really a very marginal dent in wr

I'm having trouble thinking of a situation where it would be advantageous to have it on. Maybe if you have something like a set and perhaps having it on would induce a villain to make a loose call?

villain won't know if you have it on, and you won't know if he does

I guess anytime you get it in as an underdog since card removal will help you the second time.

sigh...100NL rush and regular tables were great today. was playing on 3 tables w a 40/1 drooler and on another w a like 48/33 drooler, as well as some reg who was 3 betting like all my opens and even c/shipped a Q42 flop w A3s v me. Dispite all this, ran like 9 below ev and dropped 6

If we have it on and the villain does not, does it pop up and ask them to run it twice? Or do we just get f-ed and it runs once cuz the drooler has no idea that he can even choose that option?

should have ran it twice imo

i hoenstly think that runittwice is just a throback to the old days when people didnt have 30-50bi's or wen both players where playing above there bankroll. also they were playing live poker so a +ev move like getting it w 99 vs AK could take months to show anyprofit. but then again im talking out of my a$$ right now, so im probly wronge.

id do for entertainment purposes. i luv gambol so anything that prolongs a gambol i luv. ak vs 99 is a fun gambol for me, but its even more fun doing TWICE!!!!

it doesn't pop up anything, so they would need to have it on.

Lol, this is so funny cause it seems so true. I was running good the first two months of July .... withdraw some money and I'm on a downswing ever since (30 BIs below All-In EV).... but I know... no bad beat storys and all-in ev sucks as measurement. Gotta grind it out.
09-07-2010 , 06:54 AM
also, when clearing a bonus be ready for a downswing. that is all.

Bit of self-indulgence: does anyone who plays 25NL or 50NL FR on Full Tilt have any hands on me? Screen name is thelynchmob1. If so, what did you think of my play/what do your stats say about me? Just wondering. TY

my hands on you say you're a caring person, with attention to detail, and like little things that make you feel special. You go out of your way to do nice things for people you care about, and you are charitable to your fellow man.

Is it a bit gay if I say that having your hands on me makes me feel warm and wanted?

This is incorrect. I struggled with this one as well, but running it twice has really no influence on your EV. (It has to do with the fact that the expected value is additive even for events that are not independent.)

BarryG has explained somewhere why he never runs it twice. IIRC it was along the lines of preserving fold equity - people who don't like variance are more willing to get it in against you if you're known to run it multiple times.

My conclusion: If you're comfortably rolled for the game you're playing, don't run it twice. (If you're not rolled then move tf down.)

PSA: Contrary to mathematical evidence, getting AI as a 3:1 favorite is -EV.

That is all.
