just played a few sessions recently at 50c/1 on FTP, and in my most recent session i noticed this

By sh58

so i payed $32.5 in rake in 300 hands. how does this affect ones profits at these stakes.

i feel my edge is quite big, but is getting gradually eroded by the rake.

this session my opponents limped a lot from the SB, so less pots were won PF, will this have a big impact on the amount of rake paid, as you don't pay rake PF.

it's not beatable....you have to play at least 5/10 hu to make up for the large price of rake

We're talking NL, not limit. $100 is certainly beatable, but you should really be trying to get to $1/$2 ASAP.

i just play it occasionally. i play NL200 6max on party as my main game, but only have 2.6k on FTP

as long as i can make a decent profit playing it i'm happy.

i'd be happy with anything around 5ptbb/100

5 PTBB/100 is pretty easily done at NL100... I think your bankroll is plenty to start getting into the game especially if you game select and aren't playing for your food.

Pulling up one of my 100NL HU sessions, I paid 13.10 in rake over 343 hands... which is reasonable considering the game is beatable for way bigger amounts than 6M.

Either you were limping into a lot of pots or your opponents were.

hmmmm,

I am also playing NL100 and getting pretty pissed off with the rake.
I have a 5k roll but am not particularly good at HU (I am 3.5 ptbb over 12k hands) and am still learning.

How much better are opponents at NL200??
Should I take a few shots?

kosher what can of sample size is that? Ordinarily i'd say wait til u get better but there's no harm in taking shots against bad players seeing as u have the roll.

NL50 player here. My best advice is: keep playing and move up asap. Not much you can do about it (aside from RB and bonuses, obv.). I'm horrified at rake brutality even more than you, but TBH I'm also making good money. Occasionally I'll make thinly concealed whine post but in the end it's just about swimming upstream.

High rake applies to all games, not just to HU. Just that people for whatever reason thinks it's much higher in HU. Consider a 6m table of nl200, and you'll see that $700 is taken off the table for every 1000 hands played. Why is nobody asking if nl200 6m is beatable/profitable?

5k roll is pretty thin for 1-2NL imo, especially HU cash.

if you have other sources of income it is fine.
