Villain is 50/8 over 74 hands. He limpcalled UTG, which I interpret as standard fish play. I would be alarmed if he would have limp-raised.

So if we bet $3.75 OTT then the pot size OTR is $13.75. I would b/f and bet $7.

i don't understand why you've hit a piece and then shut down? you're betting with nothing at all on the flop except 2 overs and a back door on a paired board, and then check when you catch something?! if you think he has an 8 then you're in horrendous shape so should fold. you obv can't put him on an 8 purely so your line has to be bet/fold

^This. He can kind of own us now because you've probably got to x/c twice, even on that river, unless he like pots it, and he can have QJ, 8x etc and we're guessing/hoping we're good rather than pretty much knowing exactly where we are by betting turn and river.

The point he's making is that you bet the flop with nothing and then when you finally made the hand you wanted you checked and shut down instead if value betting the turn

For all either of you know I could have been c/r the turn.

Incidentally, I posted this hand because I wanted people's opinions on villain's range on those two streets. I shoulda made that clearer at the beginning.

yeah i think you missed my point

raise --> cbet --> hit card and shut down incase we get reraised?

just sounds pretty weak and very exploitable

also the word standard is pointless because it gets chucked around by everyone
