I think I'm getting the hang of this NL thing but here's a hand that got me thinking a bit. Villain has only played 10ish hands at the table with a solid set of 18/0/1 stats. He instapushed after my bet on the flop.

Maybe raise a bit more pre? Bet more on the flop?

Did some short calcs with pokerstove and against (AK, 44, A4s) I'm about 40%. Add some suited aces like AQ and I'm a slight favourite. Pretty much means I have to call, or am I confused?

CALL.

The only hand he can possibly have that beats you is 44, if so then its a cooler. Oh well.

10 hands is nothing, I would put 0 stock in those stats and I'm not laying down top 2 to an unknown on a rainbow board, ever.

Insta-Call. He probably has A-High and thinks he has your Ace-Mid beaten. Very low chance for pocket 44's.

I love the raise to $1.70.

I bet odd amounts all the time and at least once a week I get berated in chat.

LOL, sometimes it even tilts people into SpewMode.

I wish we could bet in penny increments instead of nickels, that would be awesome.

I'd love to bet $2.22 etc.

Although, I do realize that there was .85 in the pot and you made it 1.70 but, you catch my drift.

Agreed. 10 hands is nothing. You cannot presume to know anything about his UTG stats here. He might just be feeling out the table and not getting any decent hands.

Since he just called, he could easily have a suited ace, AQ, AJ (for an unknown). There is no way you can fold that two pair in these stakes even if you have a better read (you need hundreds of hands to make it any different).

CALL, CALL, CALL. A lot of times at these stakes, the villain will show up with an A4 type hand or an AJ, AT hand. You know nothing about his play, and you have to call at these stakes.

I think your PF bet and your flop bet are the correct amounts also. Maybe bet $5.5 or $6 on the flop, but that's not that big of a difference. Nice hand, if he has 44, so be it. You can still fill up and take it down.

Snap Call this. Although he might indeed caught you with 44 because of the UTG limp / raise call. Was a nice call for the given pot- and implied odds (for his pp).

I cant see at any point me getting away from 2 pair on unknowns. On this board im not sure why he would just push all in, but im snap calling. If you lose its a cooler like set vs set

To fold here I'd need a REALLY strong read that villain wouldn't do this with anything except a set...and even then I'd probably still call and kick myself later. lol I bet a bit more on the flop, but that's because Ax hands (and sometimes Kx hands) will call, thinking it's for value. As for his raise A4s and K4s are certainly possible and sometimes you'll see AQ here too. Snapcall and do a dance!

You obviously played the hand wrong by shoving because you lost it.

God I'm so tired of people posting coolers.

Thanks guys, not many complaints about bet sizes and general action so I'm happy. Was mainly looking for input about that and villains possible range which I personally thought shouldn't be that wide when looking at the action.

Yes he had 44, blah blah cooler and so on. Not really relevant though.
