V is a rather bad reg, running around 22/17/4 and multi tabling a lot. He's playing quite straightforward but is calling a bit too loose in big pots

Winamax - €0.20 NL (5 max) - Holdem - 5 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

UTG: 100.5 BB
CO: 129.45 BB
BTN: 201.95 BB
SB: 71.5 BB
Hero (BB): 100.65 BB

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has J 8

fold, fold, BTN raises to 2.5 BB, fold, Hero calls 1.5 BB

Flop: (5.5 BB, 2 players) 8 7 J
Hero bets 2.5 BB, BTN calls 2.5 BB

A clear mistake in retrospect, I should have x/raised

Turn: (10.5 BB, 2 players) 9
Hero checks, BTN checks

AP I was planning on folding against most bets but he checked back

River: (10.5 BB, 2 players) 8
Hero bets 7 BB, BTN raises to 105 BB, Hero ?

I decided to lead because he looked more likely to call with medium hands than to try a bluff, according to the turn check
His raise is pretty strong but I beat most of his value range (77, 87, maybe a badly played NF) and he could have gone creative after the turn check -> is it a clear call then?

not going to be the worst donk in the world but why do it if you're never going to balance it well and V is not going to exploit you for not donking.

OTT i think I agree with the XF i would consider block betting but i feel like XF is better

OTR I think X would be a disaster do yeah i like leading

easiest call of your life are you even srsly asking?

Foldddd. Not many hands you beat get to the river this way. He probably raises 77 otf, bets his flushes on the turn, and there are no 78s combos left. So you beat 2 combos of 89s, and the few odd combos of 77/ nut flush.

Lose to JJ/99. And you are not getting a good price. Don’t think it’s a profitable call. Really feels like he has 99 here 90% of the time.

So easiest call of my life or a fold?

I kind of agree that 99 is his most likely hand but that's still only 3 combos and I don't like folding the top of my range absent a very strong read

4 combos I lose to : 99(3), JJ(1), QhTh (1 but he'd probably raise it OTF)

3 value combos I win against : 77 (3 but let's say 1 because of the flop action), 89s (2)

It then depends on how spazzy a bad multi-tabling reg can be with a NF or a random bluff. Heavily multi-tabling suggests ABC poker but my turn check and my agressive stats could induce some moves.

It looks close to me now but if it does, I prefer a call (which can't be a huge mistake) to a fold (which could be one if I misread his ranges and tendencies)

simple rule to work with is: if you can beat any hands a villain would bet for value in this way with then its a relatively easy call.

at face value the answer would be yes.

Problem i have however is these huge overbets at micros are v often horribly skewed towards value unless player is confirmed maniac. 'troll bets' are a better description.
villain being a 'bad reg' fits the profile of someone who would do this with JJ/99

ive found myself making tilt calls here way too often, im not often rewarded for it.

We can’t fold here imo. There are worse boats V could have, let alone if he is capable of doing this with the nut flush.

Sometimes we will get coolered, but this isn’t one of those spots where we can justify a hero fold imo - especially given you have described V as a bad reg. Snap call.

I dont know if you can fold, but the only hand I would play this way is the Q10hh straight flush. JJ, 99, would bet turn, but the straight flush could check the turn and pray you boat up and just shove river. Wouldn't be surprised at all.

100% call and not close. You beat 77, 87, 97 and all crazy played flushdraws. You only lose to 99, QThh and JJ (which should have raised this flop)
