Hi,

I am really struggling to find the correct play in this spot. If anybody could give me his / her thoughts I would be very grateful.

I think your hand plays better multi way and would consider folding preflop. Since you are so deep it is probably ok. With the 3 bet on the flop, we can put their range on on a flush, ace with a pair and a flush draw, over pair, sets, or 56 two pair. This line doesn't feel like it has to many bluffs.

All considered, I think they are getting it in with their whole range, most of which you are beating. I would shrug jam the flop and expect to curse a good amount of the time when they already have a flush.

After 6 years of playing poker, am still at 2nl relying on Usain Bolt for help with my roll So my 2 cents may not even be worth that

Your hand reminded me of one of my from a while back though - seem to remember being quite surprised/shocked (?) to see how much equity some of the hands that a villain might have wanted to stack off with had, on a flush-drawy board?

Like AA with a club ...

    Or a set ...

And then guess versus a flush - maybe just a hope that the board might make a straight flush, in this spot?

The first two odds really surprised me because it seemed like a straight should have been such a good hand?

Always so much to learn with poker - so hard to make a little $, but guess it's lots of fun as well

GL to all of us in the 2nl pool!!

^^the fact that we are ahead (with a villain willing to get it in) in the first two hands shows why shoving flop might be a good play.

At 2NL folding pre is standard.

2NL V probably isn't going to fold after 3b flop, so we need:

    2.27 / (5.21+2.27-0.18) = 31.09% equity for 0EV assuming 0% fold equity.

Giving V a CO open of 20.66% with:

    44+, A2s+, K8s+, Q9s+, J9s+, T9s, 98s, 87s, 76s, 65s, 54s, ATo+, KTo+, QJo

With a flop 3b range of:

    TT+,66-55,AcKc,AcQc,KcQc,AcJc,KcJc,QcJc,AcTc,KcTc,QcTc,Jc Tc,Ac9c,Kc9c,Qc9c,Jc9c,Tc9c,Ac8c,Kc8c,9c8c,Ac7c,8c 7c,Ac6c,7c6c,Ac5c,6c5c,Ac4c,5c4c,Ac3c,Ac2c,AcKd,Ac Kh,AcKs,AcQd,AcQh,AcQs,AcJd,AcJh,AcJs,AcTd,AcTh,Ac Ts

Gives us 49.53% equity, which means shoving has higher EV than folding. You can tweak this range to fit your own data.

Giving V only KK+ leaves us with 39.83% equity, still an easy shove. If you also take out all nut flush draws, we have 32.73% which close to break-even.

You'll have to take notes or check a hand history database like HEM2 or PT4 to know which range to assign V.

Oh gosh - sorry, should have included combinations rather than just pot-odds

The pre-flop raising range for the villain comes from PokerSnowie/Preflop Advisor:

    Have a nice weekend everybody!

    Any equity calculator will do.

PokerRanger is what I like to use, they have a free trial but there are also programs with the same functionality for free such as Equilab, HoldEq, PokerStove, etc.

The images Sam posted are from Equilab which is probably what I would recommend.
