River is a call, if villain would flat overpairs e.g. JJ, QQ pre from the BB, river may even be a shove

If villain's AF is really 0, you at least have to consider laying it down - Villain NEVER bets or raises. At about 2.5:1, maybe a call is worth it. But, I think you are losing here just about every time. True, he could have 2 pair or set of 8s. But, I think the straight is more likely.

At game speed, I probably call this. But, I am kinda new to 6 max and have been getting killed precisely because I am making these kinds of calls (I think).

Short version - I think fold is the right way to go with an AF of 0 unless you have convincing reasons that he is doing this with 2 pair.
