FYI: UTG limp was a misclick.

Full Tilt Poker, $0.05/$0.10 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 6 Players
LeggoPoker.com - Hand History Converter

SB: $5.65
BB: $2.65
Hero (UTG): $7.60
MP: $9.95
CO: $8.55
BTN: $17.10

Pre-Flop: 8 8 dealt to Hero (UTG)
Hero calls $0.10, 3 folds, SB raises to $0.40, BB calls $0.30, Hero calls $0.30

Flop: ($1.20) Q 6 2 (3 Players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks

Turn: ($1.20) J (3 Players)
SB bets $0.70, BB folds, Hero calls $0.70

River: ($2.60) 8 (2 Players)
SB bets $1.50, Hero raises to $4.10, SB calls $2.60

Results: $10.80 Pot ($1.05 Rake)
SB showed Q Q (three of a kind, Queens) and WON $9.75 (+$4.55 NET)
Hero showed 8 8 (three of a kind, Eights) and LOST (-$5.20 NET)

I probably should have gotten away from it on the turn, but after we checked the flop I thought he could easily be stealing on the turn or at least betting with a hand I could get him off of on the river (ie AJ). Should I have just called the river after making my set?

Fold turn as you said yourself. The river raise is fine imo.

This is so results-oriented. Fold turn, you can't fold river.

Yep, fold turn, raise river, call shove. Be happy he was so weak.
