in correct poker lingua a "set" is for example 22 on a 2K4 flop if you have the 8 on 288 you have "trips"

but however if he likes to c/r you then on this flop its most likely a bluff and a like to call and let him valueown himself.

once you minraised him its only to induce something spewy... it sucks that he clicked it back to you but given that there many overpairs out there you can get it in IMO

EDIT: i just realized that this is a 3bet pot... then its an easy stack off imo if he has A8 its a cooler

He raised 3.5 more? either a) he's completely ******ed and has no idea of what it takes to fold and is trying to bluff you out or much more likely b) he has a good hand and is doing a donk job of 'suckering you in'. So he most likely has an overpair, a check is cool, but i'd prefer a rr.

Is this a joke? You flopped trips in a 3-bet pot.....just shove lol. He obviously has a strong hand and thinks he's being clever suckering you in.

I also dump this pre flop after the 3-bet most of the time, although there can be some merit in calling, I don't like it.

Also why bet so small when he checks to you? Anyway just get it in... 3-bet pot cooler if you lose. Another reason why I prefer folding 86s preflop to a 3-bet, despite being IP.
