Just started a session and had this happen within the first few hands. I had tagged the UTG as a weaker player and thought he was a rec last week when I played with him but no major reads but may be a new reg to the pool. SB is ss but he's a reg, no major spots with him so far over a decent sample.

Looks like we got ourselves in a spot reminiscent of doo doo, i.e. a doo doo spot. What do we do now that we don't have the nut flush draw but much better pot odds overall? Only need like 38% and even against a naked higher flush draw scenario we're like 33%. Easy call if there was only one player imo but with 2? Still it's only if we get an overcall and we run into AK and the higher flush draw that it's a bit unfortunate.

Yatahay Network - $0.50 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

Hero (BTN): 127.84 BB
SB: 84.98 BB
BB: 151.62 BB
UTG: 127.6 BB
MP: 196 BB
CO: 120 BB

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has 5 6

UTG raises to 2.5 BB, fold, fold, Hero calls 2.5 BB, SB raises to 11 BB, fold, UTG calls 8.5 BB, Hero calls 8.5 BB

Flop: (34 BB, 3 players) 7 K 9
SB bets 17 BB, UTG raises to 116.6 BB and is all-in, Hero ?

Fold. You can get in some nasty 3 way all ins with almost no equity

I don't think we want to be calling when we need 38% and we're only getting 33%

Pre looks kind of bad, both calls. I didn't check equities but looks like easy call.

Why would pre be bad? We're only facing an 11bb raise and it's a sb range. Maybe we should fold vs. a bb range but not at this sizing, something like 15-16bb from bb.

What does that have to do with my comment?

You said we need 38% and that it's an easy call if we're only getting 33%

That would be a terrible call

Obviously if we're getting 50%, then you call everyday and twice on Sunday.

I said in a worst case scenario vs. a single player, we're probably looking at his whole range, something that I'd say we're 42% at least vs. overall The problem is the guy that lead also being in the pot.

Anyway, I ended up calling, initial 3ber ended up folding and I ended up winning the pot with a pair of sixes.

Thought exercise: what could he have had? Hint: It was not a flush draw.

Pre is sus. Flatting can be okay if you're sure he's a rec. If not I prefer to 3bet/ fold. Even at this price, flatting the 3bet doesn't seem great because the low SPR won't give us much room to work with.

Snap-folding post. These lines are nutted too often imo, and we're getting crushed by better flush draws.
