yeah i agree mers it's quite a boring viewpoint but it's one that plugs a lot of leaks.

like this isn't an attack on you, but you say you've blown $3k playing super turbos? why not just keep the $3k in your back pocket surely that would stop you from burning out once you bought some new clothes or took your women out, filled ur car with some GAS or w/e.

i just think once you start playing games where your edge is reduced and start spewing for the sake of spewing all that stuff spills over into your husng game and you just can't play your best. or for me this is what i found.

like if it's ok to spew off like a ****** playing $6 turbos whilst drunk then it's ok to do the same when you're trying to win a $100 husng a day later. although you know otherwise your mind sorta finds it hard to switch on and off between the two.

First of all, most of that was from NLHE HUSNG super turbos that they had before FTOPS 9. I feel quite confident I had an edge in them. It's incredibly results oriented to say "why did you blow $3k playing them?" By choosing to play, I accepted a range of outcomes. That was one of them. I'm easily up lifetime in non-HUSNG poker ventures and playing some other form of poker while taking a break from the regular grind while being +EV (or even neutral EV, heaven forbid) is more defensible than clicking through this massive thread and looking at a lot of tits and nobody's calling that a waste of EV.

It's also ironic that you're insta-passing on playing 2+2ers at the stake of your choosing, because hey, you know what makes you make a lot more money? Getting better. That's why I like to play people in this forum from time to time and not just monotonously focus on fish. It's fun, it's interesting, and it makes me a better poker player. I like playing nathan a lot because I know he's better than me and I want to learn more about how. I could pay him for coaching or, assuming he does have an edge on me, I could play him for $10/hour effective. I easily get it back from what I learn from him.

If you don't need to play other types of poker once in a while to keep the game fun and interesting, cool. And yeah, I agree with you, when it comes down to it the biggest reason I play poker is the money. But that doesn't mean indulging myself in the game theory of 2-entry satties down to 3 left or brushing up on my uncomfortably good razz game means I'm bragging about being degen. It means I actually enjoy playing and am enough of a nerd to use poker to take a break from poker.

i generally post hands and discuss with the people of this forum. although i'm up for playing and discussing stuff with you mers.

my original point was that personally i just play the games i have the biggest edge in at all times. if you wanna play super turbos that's your choice man. i'm not calling you out.

i simply made the comment that super turbos are for degens and red pros and i felt your response was like an ego call out.

those superturbos are seductive. i have gotten soul raped in those myself. it's the 100 chip ones that have ****ed me. i think i am up in the 300 chip ones, but i would be way way down except i had a huge score in the $117 300 chip superturbo mtt. well huge score for me anyway.

i had to do a self semi-ban on those. i will still play them but just a little.


why are superturbos only for red pros and degens? i am not a red pro so what does that make me?

Red Pros get 100% RB and an hourly rate to play, like $35 or something. Makes it a little easier to beat any game IMO.
