It really is the worst started. Bulbasaur > Squirtle > Charmander. Charmander's evolutions are better than Bulbasaur's though obviously.

I just have to disagree, wasted hundreds of hours of my childhood grinding my way through the games w/ only my charmander holding an everstone. #hadagreatchildhood.

i played pokemon quite often and reset quite often as well.

squirtle was the best starter.

water > rock.
in mt.moon you get mega punch which kills all gym 2.
just before gym 3 you get dig and insta kill all the electric pokemon.
by the time you hit gym 4, your squrtle is a blastoise and pretty much had a monstrous level advantage which one shotted everything anyway

You'd have been 12-13, same age as me.. I imported an american copy in first year of grammar school brought it in, played it a ****load, nobody else cared. A year later every ****er was playing it.

I played Pokemon before it was popular /emoglasses.

I used to throw stones at cars/windows/people and get into fights when I was a kid

It was the first version for us I think, if you're talking about gameboy colour. I later traded my gameboy colour for Nintendo 64 like a pro and played Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The goat RPG. At least that's how I remember it, probably would be **** if I played it today. But your childhood memories somehow makes everything better than it was.

We also used to buy/steal pokémon cards from the store and play with them. But like everything at that age, trends lasted only a couple of months and then it was something new.

Still very good and very playable by today's standards. Played it sometime in the last 2 years.
