If you think he has just an over pair (or any 1 pair) that isnt AA then its not horrible. If he has 2 pair or better I dont like it.

If you were planning to call an all-in, did you consider pushing first on the turn? It seems you were floating the flop (I think), so the turn push would make more sense.

Yeah I agree with this. As played I dunno, it's usually better to apply the pressure yourself. At that point imo the call is only good if you have a strong feeling he has air/draw. If he's actually got a pair then you're not getting great odds with one card to come.

This is really a worst case kinda thing. It's not like we know he is going to shove and IMO it is unlikely that he would do such a thing. It would also really suck to charge ourselves the maximum to hit every time we are behind.

true but this pot is huge for us and I think hero needs to make decsion on the turn - the idea of missing river and folding ace hi if opponent bets again is pretty depressing, although you are right in that some villains might actually check the river - then if beaten in this hand we still have a few chips left

Does everyone agree this is a standard call pf?

no... the call preflop is HORRIBLE, and i cannot stress that enough, its REALLY REALLY REALLY bad to call 3x OOP when your <30bb deep with a hand like A5s, REALLY bad

That's what I was thinking. I'm more inclined to shove or fold, though I do call occassionally.

no matter how good you play post flop, I am almost certain that you can never flat here... ever, unless you have the EXACT read that your opponent will bluff all in on any A high board, regardless of his hand... but good luck finding that one ;p

Yeah I forgot to address that before it certainly is not.

Cmon though I'm sure you can flat call *once in awhile* but yeah shove way better. oop and the pot before you act is 20%ish of your stack. Gotta take the FE offered - taking these 20%ish pots uncontested add up to hu wins.

Even if you are behind there's a chance the guy might actually fold a slightly better kicker (I've seen this @ $20 level). If you're behind and he calls still a decent chance to donk out. More often than not though you'll just take it down right there or he'll call you with tiny pp/two face cards and in hero's position these situations are just fine.

All that being said though the obv standard play here is to flat call and check-shove any flop ftw and many hu moniez.
