Concept Example,

A .01/.02 hand

Villain is small blind and limps.
You raise to .06
Villain three bets to .18

1) What hand range can we put villain on?

2) If we have no previous history what hands should we call or raise?

3) I assume we are either folding or raising to not play out of position?

4) Is this question irrelevant when we use a HUD?

Thoughts? Thanks!

Against a 2nl villain I am still calling a wide range oop and feeling pretty good about it haha.

1)not sure what range i would assign to vill here , i think its gonna all come down to frequency and some showdown based info to determine that.

2) again, its an info vacum, i dont think its as str8 forward as playing a set range vs him...gonna have to get a feel for what he doin before trying to answer this imo

3) gonna depend on villain and his tendencies i think, only way to find out what they are is to play some pots....i think flatting oop vs some villains will be considerably better than the ev of raising or folding.

4) its something i wouldnt worry about too much tbh,

1-)I'd think his range is very polarized, meaning he has very good hands and bluffs.

2-)This heavily depends on what you raise with from bb,playing 40-50% of the hands you raise seems fine in a vacuum,of course raise with your really strong hands for value and if you want to add some bluff raises to your range, bad aces are good hands to bluff.Because since you have an ace in your hand,he has less combinations of strong hands that he can continue with. But if you are playing micros,it's alright to never bluff raise here.

3-)You can certainly call,if you think you are better than the villain postflop. I know it used to be a taboo to call a 3bet out of position. Now we are in different times.

4-)Not at all,HUDs have zero value without history, and they are not that essential when we have history.

the most interesting part of a mixed 3x/limp strat is what hands to limp imo. its pretty tricky imo because u inevitably have to start limping some* hands that are in a vacuum more profitable to raise. i guess limp reraising polarized range seems best. and then that would suggest folding or shoving being the one facing the limp/rr, but raising KJs and shoving over a limp/rr feels really weird and flatting feels much more natural. i played a bit with trying to limp the button with the bottom 20% of hands or so but found it was just too tough to balance and didnt feel my overall winrate was higher even tho the bottom 20% of hands was probably doing better.

its interesting tho
