i was browsing 2+2 and came across this (courtesy of xscwx):

"The major difference between the two is that in HUSNG you are typically <75BB deep and your stacks are getting shallower, whereas in HU cash you're typically >100BB deep and your stacks get deeper. The preflop betting in HU cash is significantly different but I think the postflop play is very similar."
i guess i was curious...certainly the getting deeper/shallower part makes sense and that would change your preflop raising standards/requirements....but are there any other tweaks? say you're at 75-100 BBs for both SNGs/cash...

then do you think they play the same? or differently? if differently, how so/

there must be some difference to how to play them as great husng players say they lose at HU cash...(i asked livb why he didn't play cash and he basically said cuz he couldn't beat 100NL)

it's very late (or early) so sorry if this is muddled. i'm going to bed now.

You can fold small edges in a SNG, every chip matters. Cash game I raise from the button a lot more. SNG I tend to call a little more OOP because the players are usually terrible and you don't have time to wait for a big hand in these. You see more limping from the button in SNG compared to cash.

I think it is more psychological.

There are fewer differences between heads up sng's and cash games compared to full ring cash game players versus 9 player sng players.

75-100BBs it's probably very simular. I think the great HUSNG players get a big edge on how they maneuver a stack of 20BB or less, particularly if they play the HU turbos. Most players play these stack sizes horrendously.

As the blind get bigger skill matters less, in HUCASH you can always choose to rebuy or play only people at 100bb or higher. When it gets to around 15BB effective stacks I don't think its worth it to try and outplay my opponents. But then again I'm not very good and maybe it is the ability to outplay your opponent at 15BB that makes a great HUSNG player
