hi, i have a question regarding SNG HU low stakes (5-10$), and i think many on you can help me. I'm having a losing streaks, donks that outdraw me with gutshot or runner runner and so on. My roi drop from 30% to 0% (at 10$).
Anyway, i'm looking for same tips that can improve my game with the donks. Some strategy, something that can help me to avoid strange situations...reading books is not enough 'cause they are written for higher stakes...
Please give me usefull tips
Thanks to all ;-)

Most books are not written for higher stakes. Most books cover basic fundamentals.

For early game, you need to learn to play post flop obviously. Most of this just comes from experience. There is also the HU forum.

For the late game, you should probably learn about equilibrium calculations and play with poker stove.

I recently started to grind the 5.25 at full tilt. I only have a small sample size but what is yours? Are you using pt?

I think you have just lost confidence in your game. If at any point when you are playing HU sngs, or any poker, if you feel like the deck is stacked against you then just take a break.

If your confidence is fine and you are just taking bad beats, then no one's advice can help you.

If you think you need strategy help then posting specific hands will be the best solution, as whatever general mistakes you are making will be quickly revealed that way.

I don't lack in confidence, but at this point i'm guessing if my strategy is correct. In 6 month of sng hu in many site i won over 500$ playing this level. I know that 500$ isn't a great result but, i see that my play is effective. My losing streak on pokerstars was terrible, i can't stop donkey who calls 4bb raise preflop with 74 only 'cause were suited, i can't do nothing against a players hitting runner runner. I'm not a passive player, so i bet usually the pot if a have a decent hand. I find out that bluffing isn't very effective because, the donks calls you many times with nothing.
The question that i can't answer is: preflop raising strategy...how to avoid the donks calls with junk???
Raising out of position with a decent hand like QJs (for instance) is correct?

I have serious problems with these guys :-(
And i have another question regerding the low stakes...is better be passive or aggrassive? Is better wait for to pair or better and try to win more chips possible?
I know that many of you have passed the low stakes, and i know that playing poker at this level resemble more like roulette than cards. So, i'm loking for some advice that can help me to beat donks

Just play ABC poker. Post some hands and we can tell you if you are doing things right.

You should be able to use this converter: http://poker-tools.flopturnriver.com/Hand-Converter.php

Just cut and paste the hand into it from your hand history.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t30 (2 handed) Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver Cards)

Button (t1595)
Hero (t1405)

Preflop: Hero is BB with , .
Button calls t15, Hero raises to t90, Button calls t60.

Flop: (t180) , , (2 players)
Hero bets t120, Button calls t120.

Turn: (t420) (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets t1385 (All-In), Hero calls t1195 (All-In).

River: (t3000) (2 players, 2 all-in)

Final Pot: t2810

he turn over 4s 3s and hit the straight.

This is my last played hand. I call with top pair, 'cause i thought that if he have a flush, he shouldn't go all in, so my top pair is good enough. I called also because the provious hands, he bluffs a lot.
So my call was incorrect? should i have to consider the stacks or i made a the corret decision cause i was ahead?

yeah very standard call, villain never has the flush.

i would not say, that he never has the flush, there are some players who are getting very exciting if the hit some very strong hand.

But with help of this:

it seems to be a simple call, but he got lucky. but remember, that villains hand was not that bad - at least at the turn - and on top of that you checked which he could've interpreted as weakness. apart from that villain also had about 30% equity if called. that doesn't mean that your opponent played this hand well, but he hasn't played it completely insane either.

I know what u mean. I titled alot because of these donks at lower levels. Advice: move up as soon as your BR can handle it. It helped me alot! And for now: Wait for good spots. When u are sure u have the best hand bet more than u do now. Fish cant laydown any pair.

Don't be afraid to raise preflop in position and take your Q8 up against his 97 and let your position and superior post flop play win for you in the long run. I don't see the goal of a preflop raise as being a steal, it is setting you up to have the lead on the flop to take it down with a c-bet or build a pot in pos. when you hit a hand.
OOP I would raise much less, but QJ is fine if your opponent is limping every hand. Again, just like when in pos., just let your superior post flop skills back up your preflop raise. Don't let bad luck deter you from playing good.
-------
As for the hand you posted, you got the money in as a ~72% favorite and just got unlucky, NH

I think the raise w/ QJ OOP is fine sometimes b/c it is a very easy hand to play postflop. We all have bad streaks. Play straight foward, avoid spots that might be awful and dont worry too much about spots where you might be a little behind. I came from 25 NLFR so I skipped the micros and started at the 22s, but I am sure straight foward poker wins at the 5s and the 11s, as it does at later levels.
