Why would you not raise?

I would bet flop, we have a pretty strong hand in a limped pot.

I think we should raise/fold river against that sizing.

No I wouldn't raise OTT.

Don't think betting flop is good...they shouldn't call with much worse in a 3 way limped pot.

We should raise because there are 2 flush draws and few straight draws possible (68 69 64 63 89 34). And obviously for value.
Betting the flop is much better than giving away free card. We would expect 88+ to open pre, so we would only be behind a limped Qx.
This hand is good example of what can happen when you just call turn, so much value lost. Vs fish we don't think in terms of "We never get called by worse...", we just bet.

Anyone raising pre?

I like rasing turn too, if not def raise river vs this size.

We're not really ahead of most flush draws equity-wise...any flush draw with one overcard to our 7 is a coinflip against us, any flush draw with 2 overcards to the 7 is a favourite. So I don't see the 'value' in betting flop.

River I'd raise because of bet sizing tells, I'd just call against a normal type of bet.

OTT, we are certainly ahead of pair+FD. I think that's what he's mostly referring to. As a separate argument, fishtankz is suggesting betting the flop, which I also agree with. Two villains limped and we have middle pair good kicker. Villain can call with worse 7 etc.

You shouldn't just bet because villain will call with some worse hands. You should bet because you have the advantage against his calling range.

So what if he calls with some worse 7's? He's also calling with every queen he limped pre. He's calling with any flush draw (we're not ahead in equity, so this is not a value bet). He's definitely calling or raising with sets and 2 pair. If he decides to play his flush draws aggressively by raising, you'll have to fold your middle pair. Don't see anything good about betting this flop tbh.

What about simply betting for protection?

dont simply bet for protection, protection is a consequence of a bet, you bet for value or as a bluff, when you bet thinking simply to protect, you are going to overvalue yourself, make only better hands call you.
