Poker Stars $55.00+$2.50 No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t15/t30 Blinds - 2 players
The Official 2+2 Hand Converter Powered By DeucesCracked.com

Hero (BTN/SB): t1870
BB: t1130

Pre Flop: Hero is BTN/SB with 2 K
Hero raises to t90, BB calls t60

Flop: (t180) 4 7 K (2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks

Turn: (t180) 3 (2 players)
BB bets t90, Hero calls t90

River: (t360) A (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets t210, BB raises to t950 all in, Hero calls t740

this may have been a horrible call but I didn't think that villain would ever check raise an ace here, he'd bet it, as well as a straight or 2 pair.. i had been caught taking river stabs like this once before, and he had c/r me then as well, and I was just confused, because I couldn't put him on a hand, so I called. Is this terrible?

I had a strong bet sizing read that his half pots were stabs so I thought he might be using that as a scare card.. or am I trying to be too soul ready?

Just check the river, I dont think that your hand is strong enough for a value bet. It removes all of these problems for you.

i wanted to get value out of a pair that thought i was using A as a bluff card.. checking behind here seems weak so many villains will assume im bluffing in this spot which i am actually a lot of the time

The you have just admitted a leak in your game. If you are bluffing the river here in most situations then you are extremely vulnerable at this stage of the hand. You are assuming that your opponent will call to call your bluff whereas a raise can be much more effective.

Slow and steady wins the race in these SnG's, i prefer your move in a cash game format.

Did you really have a "strong read," or were you just trying to justify your play?

With given reads, it's an easy call. But then--why'd you post it?
