I'm very glad to see well from a well known high stakes player!

1. Can you tell what is the state of high stakes NL HU and PLO HU games?

2. What do you most regret doing or not doing during your poker career?
3. What has been the most enjoyable aspects of this time?

4. What kind of things separate the true elite players from just good players? Tilt control, ability to truly think the game of opponent's perspective, bankroll management etc..?

5. What are your strengths and weaknesses as a person?

6. What are your plans in the future poker and non poker wise?

7. Biggest dream since a kid?

8. Dream job? If that's poker, what comes 2nd?

9. Top 5 movies?

10. Surfing or snowboarding?

Gl in your future ventures!

First of all, thanks for doing this

Kinda amazed you still watch videos, I guess it's the HU vids from the very top instructors? Do you learn anything from them directly, or is it more seeing them take a different line and being able to consider the merits of it quietly (as opposed to when they do something you wouldn't when you play them)

How would you describe your general level of focus when playing poker? How close to flow are you?

Do you design your ranges around your strong hands/air (which you generally want to play in the same way) and try to do as best as you can with say mid pair, or do you make an extra effort to protect your mid hands (examples would be to bet A83fd with strong hands and air after a 3bet, and check/soulread mid pair as opposed to also checking some strong hands and some draws to checkraise to prevent/protect you from getting owned when you check mid pair - or your cbet strategy: check back a lot of mid pairs etc and also check back some draws/top pair to protect them, or just cbet a ton even though you hate checkraises on your mid pairs). The answer to this is probably 'it depends', but you must feel more biased towards to one way of constructing your ranges.

Related to that, when playing durrr for example, how often are you superimbalanced at a specific moment in the match (for example: at this time, on this flop, I'm checking strong hands to him 100% where I would bet them 80% of the time in my balanced strategy). Trying to get a feel for how much of nosebleeds is trying to soulread the other guy, or whether it's more like running 2 balanced strategies against eachother and try and applying your strategy the best/not tilt.

If a fairly advanced (regularly playing regs at nl1k) HU player were to take a limited amount of lessons from you, how would you go about it? Do you think you could provide significant value? What would you focus on? (Feel free to ignore this if you feel it is a bad well question)

Thanks for doing this jungleman,

As you moved up how many different levels would u play at a time. IE at 200nl would you also play 100nl/50nl, or would you strictly play one stake at a time? Often it is hard to get constant action at a particular stake as you move up. Again thank you for taking the time out to answer questions, and am looking forward to the full background story.

1) how many bi would you advise before taking shots at weaker 25/50 regs?
2) what caused the biggest trouble when you tried to grow as a poker player? how did you overcome it?
3) it seems you are a student, how do you balance studying and poker? are you bothered by big swings?
4) best advice you were ever given in poker and life ?
5) best advice you could give to yourself back in the day when you were grinding 5/10 and 10/20 ?
6) whats the biggest difference between a good 10/20 reg and a good nosebleed player?

thanks alot for doing this

kind of a vague question since people play multiple limits at a time so no worries if you dont answer.
the only limit i truly strugged with was 25/50; if there was anyone that was beating me consistently I would ask "Ok is this ****er getting lucky all the time or am I doing something wrong? What are the mistakes that I'm making?" Normally it doesn't take me too long to figure out what I'm doing wrong; having friends that are also good at poker (urnotindanger2 mostly in this case) helps

Both playing and studying ofc. Nowadays especially training sites and coaches > books, and any of the bigger ones (cr, dc, leggo, bluefire) are good. Def table select, but don't exclusively play fish if you want to be especially successful (you can have bigger edges vs regs anyway). As far as moving up goes, I'd recommend aggressive BR management, and moving down if you drop below 20 bis or w/e for the stake youre taking a shot at. And ofc, there is money hu.

1. Depends on player, I'd play up to 6 or maybe more if they were all fish.
2. Three different sites atm, maybe more in the future. Sure, if games are running.
3. I think dc's hu vids for nl are good, and cr's for plo.

1. Depends on edge, I would think 20 bis for low stakes, 30-40 for mid, 40+ for highstakes.
2. HU players are making lot's of mistakes that don't fall under a single category really. In general they misapply concepts, overestimate opponents, don't hand read too well, see patterns where they don't exist etc etc.
3. Hud is extremely useful. I actually think it's absolutely necessary and underrated. It's like what a ruler is to your hand (ie, not using a hud) for measuring the length of things.

The best players are probably playing 25/50+, but the strong regulars at higher stakes are just about equal to the strong regs at 25/50. I would guess that the oldschool nosebleed players are not as good as the best current regs. Obviously it's a fallacy to think higher stake player=better than lower stake player, but until nosebleeds at least skill level and stake are related.

1. Yes, I want to win more! MAOR!
2. Eh maybe 20-45 k hands? I have no idea, but it's a decent amount.
3. Depends on the day, USUALLY it doesn't take more than a couple hours. I'm usually browsing or on skype etc in between that time.

In both poker and picking up girls, not being results oriented is important ofc.
Hopefully relatively soon, likely before the year ends.

-DO you thinks watchign videos can at one point stop being helpful and actually hurt your game a little bit?

-What do you think is the the difference between the good players and the really good players? Like when 2 real good players face eachother what factors make one of them better then another?

-What do yo ufeel helps you regain confidence when you ve lost a lot and just cant run good and have to move down? (Do you think playing more regs can help rebuild confidence?)

Will come up with more questions later
-Well obviously, but not being emotionally tied to poker is near impossible but ideally you would have looser BR management...

-I don't really think watching vids could ever hurt your game so long as you realize the flaw in the vid producer's logic, etc. Part of the reason why I watch vids is because I'm interested in why ppl do certain things, what "level" the guy is on, etc. Occasionally I actually do learn/realize something useful also.

-This question is too vague to answer. There are many potential ways they could differ, and contrary to common (implied) belief, you can't quite determine how a guy will play based on how good he is. Skill level is based on a summation of things and general subsets only correlate with it.

-Taking a break, going over the session(s) I got raped in and focusing on not making those mistakes in the future. And again, game selecting slightly tighter.

I'm not too sure exactly how to word this question but I'm going to give it a try. I have no problem playing a reg on a couple of tables in a 'match'. Yet bump this up to 4 or 6 and I struggle. It seems like a skill in itself. It's not that I can't keep up with that amount its that I end up 3betting too much or too less. Have a hard time keeping track of gameflow / the leveling going on if multiple hands are going on at a time. How did you learn to deal with this type of thing especially considering most of these 6+ table matches you've played have been at the highest of stakes.

How big a difference do you see in the best reg at 5/10 vs best reg at 25/50, if they battle each other, how big an edge do you think the best 25/50 can have in terms of bb/100?

btw, really grateful that you are doing this.

You said that using a HUD is almost essential, do you mind giving us the layout of your HUD? What stats you think are the most important, etc.

When improving did/do you ever figure out a situation using a lot of mathematical concepts? I'm having trouble wording this but basically I'm wondering if most of your knowledge is made up of formally learnt theory, theory you picked up just by thinking about poker and so on.

Let me know if you don't understand the question, I can try to rephrase

How big of an edge do you think there is in HU plo (compared to HU nlhe)?

For example, I think most people check back 85s on k82 rainbow in nlhe, but in plo people do different things with a similar strength hand.

Hmmmm hard to word but, how much more exploitable (and how do they differ) are people in hu nlhe and hu plo?

XD jungleman

what other things are you naturally very good at ? (learning a language, chess, math...)
Occasionally, that's if i'm really getting owned and just have no clue why im losing

A lot more experience playing better players than myself (at the time), and a lot of time away from table

Anything academic and most games including all of the above I'm usually at least good at, particularly math and science. Back in HS I had good grades even in AP classes while not really doing anything (not anymore though! :P). Not so good at social situations sometimes and sports...

You consider yourself to be in top X atm at NLHE HU cash (X = 5, 10, you say).
I usually have 100% of myself when I play nosebleeds, in many cases it doesn't make much sense to play against a reg without 100% of yourself.

I play on ft, stars, and cake atm.

I do coach and my rate is 1k/hour.

I'll say top 5, even though I can't think of 4 guys that I truly think are better than myself. My judgment might be wrong though ofc.

Take a break, review, come back and not tilt. Unless youre urnotindanger2/some other machine you're going to care about losing that much.

Lot's of experience losing and winning at the previous stake, and also an edge against most of those at that same stake.

A might entail B depending on your ability, the two ideas are not totally discrete. It also depends on what you want. For me, money was not my biggest goal--I want/wanted renown especially, which probably entails making lots of money but definitely entails doing more than fleecing donkeys.
