I'll talk more about it tomorrow, but I didn't cash in the tourney. Finished about 280 out of 1,397.
AQs<JJ BB vs BTN.
Welcome back! We want a TR if you have the time.

FWIW I was gone a week or so without looking at the forum and it was nearly impossible to catch up. Never leaving you guys again!

No they closed that down a few months ago to most of us. Which is why the games have been a little worse than usual. Harder to get money on the sites.

Is playing in PP's BBJ tables -EV?

The BBJ was hit yesterday at like $500k (the Party Poker one) and it seems like a lot of money for the "winner". Just wondering about this because many of the tables running seem to be Jackpot ones btu i dont like the idea of paying 50 cents extra rake
06-12-2008 , 12:35 PM
It's a lot of extra rake and really your chances are slim of actually making the jackpot. You're just donating to the pot imo. It's adding an extra gamble to the game that isn't really needed.

Just IMO tho.

I refuse to both knit and nit, but you kids have fun. Can the forum vote on the afghan pattern?

i know poker ev questions probabably get asked all the time but is it good or bad if your total winnings is above your skaklansy bucks and sd winnings?

look at the all-in/luck graph to see if you're running hot/above expectation. as for the over all ev graph, people don't put much stock in them, i don't think.

green @ or > your SD winnings means you are picking up pots you don't deserve (good)

In short, no. The US taxes it's citizens earings regardless of where they are earned. You can get a credit if you've paid taxes to another country on your earnings though.

So, the differrence in play between Happy Hour and 10AM-12PM EST is ridiculous. Its not even close. Such a nit fest during the day, but during the happy hour its just stackage and bad beats (fish can showup with anything).

Goddamnit. Maybe I'll just never withdraw, until I'm like 30 and move to another country. Then I'll withdraw everything and not pay a dime.

But you still have to pay the difference between what you paid in taxes to another country and what you would pay in the US or am I misinformed. I always have to laugh when I hear this, I don't think there is any other country in the world that does this.

When I used to play at party I would 9 table (cause my computer sucks and couldn't handle more) and I would throw in 1 or 2 BBJ tables. From an EV perspective it's quite -EV, but it's always fun to hope you get lucky and hit it big. I also noticed the BBJ tables tend to have more fish then the non BBJ tables. Also speedle, don't you 24 table? I thought party has a 12 table max policy.

You do know that whether you withdraw or not really means nothing as far as when or if you owe tax. Not trying to make you sad, just tellin you what they teld me in CPA school. Of course there is the issue of tracking.

Right, this is the credit for foriegn taxes I was talking about. In my experience all taxes are somewhat similar its just where they choose to tax you. Some states have no state tax but have high sales taxes or property taxes to make up for it.

It's been like five years since I did this, but IIRC, you get an exemption for money earned below like 75k. It's probably different now.

Btw just to let everyone know SoundedSimples Irish voice isnt as sexy as mine. Dont blame it on the dodgy mic either SS.

Very interesting though. Is there any more late night videos in the pipework?

You have to spend at least 330 (I think) days out of the US each year to get that tax credit. You also don't get the tax credit until you've spent the time out of the country. Leaving and entering days count as full days in the US.

I've officially made Stars my new home, because 10NL rake on Full Tilt = no. The transfer should be done sometime today, so I'll be over there when I play tonight.

Of all the sites I've played at (plenty post the US thingy) Stars has always been my favorite. I like the layout esp with being able to change the table styles. Support has always been more than helpful and very quick. Never have I felt unsafe with my roll. That's V-important IMO esp with some much money sitting around.

Also one time about a month ago we had a check sent to us via mail and it never showed up. They deposited the money back in Charger's account before the bank had even cancelled it. Guessing him playing so much and being super nova had something to do with it but it was still nice

Anyway good luck at Stars and I hope things go MUCH better for you there.

Thanks. Despite running bad/spewing after the occasional tilt, I feel really good about my game and am confident I'll move through 10NL and 25NL fairly quickly. For pretty much the first time since I started playing seriously, I know exactly what I'm trying to accomplish in hands, specifically at micro stakes.

what are you trying to accomplish?
