villain isn't checking behind on the turn.

Raise flop.

I'd think about value-betting river.

i like raising the flop for 2 reasons , 1 if you get your draw on turn you will get more value. and the secound reason is that you can see the river card for free .

Don't raise the flop.

If your attempt is to try and outplay him and to get him off of his hand, I think raising the flop is an option here also. I think raising will take away his option to check-raise you on the turn. If he has a strong hand, I think he may simply show it with a 4bet. If his hand is weak, he will call or fold.. Then, he will more than likely check the turn (unless he was on a draw, which I don't think is likely based on his range), and then you can get two free cards, and you put less money in the pot when you simply wanted to knock him off of his hand. If he doesn't know you're a regular, he will simply continue betting into you with a made hand. I think his value range here is trips, JJ+. The check on the turn could have been a slow play. Those are just my thoughts.

+1 for not raising flop, river bet would be too thin vs most imo

Results show that hero gets a free card on the turn; however, that might not be in all cases in which this hand pops up. I think a flop raise would make it more likely for hero to get a fold at best or cheaper cards. There was no way we could have known that hero would later have the chance to make a thin value-bet.

My original statement was not influenced by villain checking the turn or the J coming on the river.

River is a clear xb

Don't agree that it is bad to raise flop as some say..

Calling flop is fine too but bet the turn bigggger
