HU, first hand AQ facing 3bet HU, first hand AQ facing 3bet

villian is a winning reg at 6m. its HU and he 3bets me right off the bat in the first hand.

My logic here with AQ is that he can be doing this with any 2 because he wants to assert he is going to be aggressive. Therefore i think 4betting for value and stacking off here can be profitable. However, i have no reads on his 3betting frequency, and i am basing this line solely off my experience HU. Thoughts?

flatting or 4betting/getting it in are both fine. If you know next to nothing about his 3betting freq, even in regular 6 handed games (sounds like this is a 6m table), you may want to take a more cautious approach early on and see how things develop...but this is really just up to you, i dont think there is much else to say about it.

I think this is pretty solid

good logic. consider that while a large number of 6M opponents playing HU might have a really tight 3B/5B range, those that 3B looser will be doing it so much more often ... which sounds more than obvious, but has the important implication that when you face a 3B from someone with unknown tendencies in this spot, it will tend to be from someone loose.

Calling pre, and check/shoving almost any flop that doesn't include a king is fine :]

One thing that happens a lot that hasn't been mentioned is when it's 3 handed and the 3rd guy leaves- u R btn, normal, and the bb 3bts, u F- he insta sits out....

u ever played this guy before? It's a cheap trick but happens all the time...

just a 'fwiw'

Why 4bet > call pf? I doubt we're more than flipping aginst his shipping range, and we're IP

when he makes it this size and we have position i think flatting is best tbh. seems a really fishy 3bet size.

It's hard to c/shove IP :]

That is a super small 3b - I would take it to mean air - so either call pf and get the free CB out of him or 4b and hope he thinks the first 4b is a bluff.
