Thoughts on regs pretending to be fish by sitting in short and then topping off after a few hands? Seems like they will get action from other regs idk. Kinda ghey imo.

hilarious to come home drunk and read that a heads up poker discussion has gone to soccer vs. real football, vs rugby...not really on topic.

that being said, only in soccer can you see a dude get kicked in the shin and insta grab his head and start crying. pretty fem imo.

There are guys that are that tough in american football and therefore are really being reckless and the impacts are not seen in any other sport (except maybe hockey because of the speeds attained skating).

I never really understand the argument of rugby is tougher than football because of no gear vs gear. They hit harder because of the gear. Harder hits equals more G-force collisions.
f=ma. american football players are both bigger and faster than rugby players and soccer players, this is fact. how exactly you think that they would be able to hit harder than nfl players if they had pads is beyond me.

and to whoever asked about microphones in the helmets, in the nfl only one player on each side of the ball (1 on offense and 1 on defense) is allowed to have a mic. this is typically the quarterback on offense and the middle linebacker on defense.

edit: also want to add that i realize rugby players are tough as ****, and i think it's a cool game. but thinking that there are harder hits in rugby than in nfl is a fallacy.

Oh noes. Regs playing regs. That's so bad for the games! I say ban any reg who will try to get action from other regs.

Why is American football called football? It is mainly played by hand.

Soccer = football
American football = handball with a kick now and then

Who said regs playing regs was a bad thing? Everyone was just saying it is gay when a reg sits with like $81.26 at an NL200 table and tops up on the 3rd hand like they think they are tricking someone into playing.

If anything, it's gay that they get so little action from regs that they have to try that sort of stuff in the first place.

Im a New Zealander so I support the All Blacks and everything (even played rugby for 10 years) but now days I'm finding rugby league so much more interesting to watch. Bigger hits, better tries, the game is more flowing rather than stop start stop like it is in rugby.

Also in terms of toughness, rugby league > rugby union ainec. e.g Andrew Johns played with a collapsed lung for a whole 2nd half (40min) in a rugby league State of Origin match.

Rugby league, you have 6 tackles then the ball is turned over. Generally its 5 tackles and kick on the last.

This guy was like the pin up boy of rugby league (until he switched to union)

And this is the best try of the 2008 season. Watch the slow motion replay at 55sec, its sick.

Yeah I play regs all the time. Just don't try silly tricks, just sit with me and 95% of the time I will play.

yeah rugby league is tough as *** bunch of northern thugs getting studded in the hand reaching for the ball in pissing rain in the middle of December. And the tackles are relentless rugby players dont try and make the crowd go ohhhhhh big hit they jus put the man to the deck and try to win the ball. Also saying american football players are bigger and quicker is ridic.

In rugby(union and league to a degree) you have backs which are normally 14-16stoneish and quick as *** with the wingers normally being quickest(easily sub 11 second 100 metre guys) then you have the forwards who are still relatively quick(most of them) for their size and they are normally anything from 17-22 stoneish and have ears chewed off, permanently broken fingers, shoulders so tough from tackling players of all sizes(without pads). And believe me I used to play rugby and to say that anyone doesnt hit as hard as they can because they aint got pads is not true lol.

I got this yesterday. I have a friend that has got to Hanspree's and both of them had a dead pixel. This is my second Acer and they have been perfect. Plus this monitor has the same resolution as the 24" you were looking at. This thing is great, as the reviews say. It also comes with the hdmi cable. Which is a huge plus. Going to get another one later today to replace my 22" (1600x1050) acer.

just lol to this. yes they are very tough. no they aren't as big/fast/athletic as nfl teams (or college for that matter). here is the starting defense for the new york giants
Quote:
Defense
NO. NAME POS AGE HT WT EXP COLLEGE
91 Justin Tuck DE 26 6-5 274 5 Notre Dame
72 Osi Umenyiora DE 27 6-3 261 7 Troy
96 Barry Cofield DT 25 6-4 306 4 Northwestern
98 Fred Robbins DT 32 6-4 317 10 Wake Forest
57 Chase Blackburn LB 26 6-3 247 5 Akron
55 Danny Clark LB 32 6-2 245 10 Illinois
58 Antonio Pierce LB 30 6-1 238 9 Arizona
31 Aaron Ross CB 27 6-0 197 3 Texas
23 Corey Webster CB 27 6-0 202 5 Louisiana State
20 Michael Johnson S 25 6-2 207 3 Arizona
21 Kenny Phillips S 22 6-2 210 2 Miami (Fla.)
i'm too lazy to look up the results for each individual player but here are some combine results from last year's NFL draft (the top 300 or so prospects coming out of college). also note that the most elite players generally don't do these workouts at the combine, so this isn't like the cream of the crop.

http://www.nfl.com/combine/top-performers

If you look through you will see all the 40 yard dash times as well as the bench press numbers. They test each player to see how many repetitions of 225 pounds (~102kg) they can do.

I'll give you the full rundown on one rookie's results since it seems comparable to a rugby player's size and he is a good player.

Quote:
Donald Brown (RB)
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 210
College: Connecticut
Conference: Big East
Hometown: Atlantic Highlands, NJ
High School: Red Bank Catholic
View Combine Page >>

Combine Results:
40 Yard Dash : 4.51 seconds
Vertical Jump : 41.5 inches
Broad Jump : 125.0 inches
3 Cone Drill : 6.93 seconds
20 Yard Shuttle : 4.1 seconds
60 Yard Shuttle : 11.3 seconds
i would be extremely surprised if you could find rugby players that measure up with those metrics. and i'm not using some freak outlier here either, he played in a middling conference in college, is a good player, but nothing too amazing--he is an average nfl running back.
